Before you guys get to worried I will tell you that he is only a foster bunny staying with us until the shelter can take him.

So the story is, my sister worked at a camp this summer and they got two baby rabbits only 1 week old some lady that didn’t know anything about rabbits had a litter and gave two to them. One of the bunnies died from poopy butt. I think it was from a poor diet. So their was only one baby rabbit left. At the end of the summer they said they were going to kill it because they couldn’t take care of it over the winter so I told my sister to bring it home.

        Name: Sebastian

        Age: 9-10 weeks old

Gender:  They said he was a boy but I am going to check and make sure.

        Color: Black

        Bread: Uknown

Now for the picture! I will try to get better ones soon

He’s so cute! I can’t believe people could be so careless and cruel, but I’m glad your family could take him in a for bit until he can find a forever home.

Oh Mocha, he’s gorgeous! I’m amazed he’s survived after being pretty much dumped.
He’s in great hands with you.

I let him out of his cage for the first time probably in his life yesterday and he LOVED IT! He binkied a lot and when I put him back in his cage he looked at me with sad eyes and started digging at the towels looking for a way out!

So far, with litter training, every thing is going great! I only saw one little poop out of the litter box. I don’t know about pee though.
I also still need to check and make sure he is a he before I send the information to the animal shelter.

I’m sure you are miles and miles away, besides, it’s just Arthur for now until he is neutered and we are going to expand the condo.

Since there was a littermate that died- just make sure to take care of your bunnies first and then take care of him- wash your hands and change your clothing after handling him. And I would clean anything that he uses with diluted bleach to be on the safe side when he goes to the shelter. Coccida can cause loose stool and death- has be been tested for coccidia?

That’s so sad how horrible people are. He’s beautiful. Thank you for taking him in.

KatnipCrzy: No, The shelter will only pay for checkups that are necessary like if I knew he was sick. Other wise I would have to pay for it and I am young and don’t have a job so it is hard for me to pay for that kind of stuff.

Just keep him away from your rabbits and don’t share any supplies (food dishes, litter pans, blankets, brushes etc). Wash your hands after handling him, etc. You could get an old t-shirt and leave it by his cage and wear it when you’re handling him and then take it off when you’re done. And if you let him out for run-time make sure it’s an area where your other bunnies don’t go. It’s better to be cautious when you have other bunnies because then you don’t have to worry about it. I would do this with any new bunny that came into my home, just as a precaution.

Sebastian isn’t in the house. He is in a kennel in the new pen I built. My mom wont let him in the house. But, when we go home he will be in Mocha and Lulu’s old condo in the garage. Hopefully there will be another foster parent willing to take him soon so he can be inside!

Are you going to let your bunnies into the new pen that you built? or did you build it for Sebastian? Your bunnies being in the environment or pen with exposed wood that urine, poo can access can transmit diseases to your bunnies- coccidia included. And I would also research EC and Pasteurella before letting your bunnies use a pen that Sebastian has used. I think it is scary that a littermate died and the reason is unknown- and you don’t want to endanger your bunnies. Will you parents pay to have Sebastian looked at and a fecal tested? It would be cheaper to do that than have 2 of your bunnies get sick.
I know you are trying to do a good thing but you MUST put your bunnies first.

Wood and concrete are too porous and difficult/impossible to clean if Sebastian does carry something.  So dont keep him anywhere where your bunnies will ever be unless you are able to replace the wood/concrete/soil or it is a surface that can be bleached- like plastic.

Sounds like your parents are willing to help him out?  Do they know the benefits of making sure he is healthy so your bunnies can stay healthy?

They wont pay for it but they would let me pay for it… maybe. The pen was for my bunnies. Not for Sebastian. I think the other bunny died from leaving its mom to early and I amm sure sebastian would have gotten sick by now because his brother died within a week of the camp getting. Him and its been awhile sin then. he will get a full checkup befor his neuter and the bun buns wont be in that pen for another 2 years.
