Fluffy seems to have a swollen testicle. I mean, his left testicle is bigger than his right. He’s active and does a lot of binky these past few days and I don’t know how to deal with it. Thanks people, Ive been getting a lot of help from this forum.

If it appears abnormal, please take him to a rabbit vet to have it evaluated. Also, if the testicles are visible, that means he is ready to be neutered.

I agree. Please take him in to see the vet. There is post in the Q&A section about a Dutch bunny who’s testicle ruptured and he died. Not saying this will happen to your rabbit but it’s best to get him checked out asap.

I agree- anything that looks abnormal should be seen by a vet.

I agree that it is scary and like LPT, the first thing I thought of was what happened to a recent members bunny. https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/116728/Default.aspx#247524 That post alarmed me as I have not heard that much about the dangers this situation and again it was the first thing I thought of when I read your post. I , of course, don’t want to panic anyone. It’s just that the loss of that member’s bunny helps alert us to situations like yours so we can help prevent something like that from happening. So please seek vet care asap. Even it ends up being just a minor irritation that is easily treated, at least it’s better to be safe than sorry.

                  Keep us updated.

Hi, I had taken him to the vet and he got an antibiotic to help stop the swelling and he also got vitamins, so far his appetite increased and he’s been active and doing a lot of binkys. His testicle is still swollen but it seems a little better now. Maybe it has something to do with the poop stuck on his testicle, and he tries to bite it off sometimes, maybe he’s irritated or something. When I have my day off, I will have another visit with the vet and hopefully he gets better.

If he’s getting droppings stuck on his testicles, he probably needs your help to clean himself. A warm damp wash cloth is a lot safer than him biting it off, as teeth marks there along with droppings can lead to some nasty infections.

Mention the droppings getting stuck to his testicles to the vet, as that is not normal.

Once his course of antibiotics is finished, I highly suggest that you have him neutered right away.
                          Good luck!

I have one question. His testicles are really growing out too big. Is it hernia? He seems to have a lot of stuffs to fix.

He needs a vet, ASAP! We can’t tell you what the problem is, as we are not qualified vets, but your poor bun needs some medical attention as soon as possible, it looks like a very serious situation.

Absolutely!  That is not normal!  I’m wondering if your vet is qualified for bunnies.  Did he look like that when you took him in?  Also, Earthbunny is right, have him neutered right away.

That is very extreme, he needs immediate vet attention from a vet who knows what they are doing… there’s more than just an infection going on here! It certainly looks like it could be life threatening.

I triple ditto — that is not normal. I have actually never seen a rabbits testicles that large and swollen before. That can’t be comfortable and I imagine they would drag on the floor and continue to get irritated. I am so sorry! Something is definitely wrong. I hope you will be able to find a rabbit savvy vet soon.

It is really hard looking for a rabbit savvy vet here in the Philippines. And yes, he’s been dragging the larger one whenever he’s outside his cage. I guess that’s the reason why the poop keeps getting stuck on his testicles. I rely on prayers but I also don’t know what to do or where to bring him.

Are there any rabbits rescues where you live that might be able to refer you to someone who treats rabbits?

From the looks of that, I am assuming he will need surgery to remove the testicles. I don’t think they will return to normal size by themselves. And he is at risk of constantly irritating them if they stay so large, or if the skin does not shrink back.

Yes, I am very much aware of that. I was thinking of surgery, too. Like, castrating his testicles so they won’t have to swell or grow bigger. I am doing my research and asking for other veterinarians who treat rabbits right now. Guys, if there is any information that might help me with this problem, please do inform me. And I have to thank you guys for all your concerns. I will do everything for Fluffy.

I’m so sorry.  This must be extremely frustrating. Finding a rabbit savvy vet wher you live may be challenging.  Of course, I am not a vet, but it does seem like castration would be the answer unless the bunny is dealing with some sort of infection or illness that would make it difficult for him to go under and recover, but this way sure doesn’t seem like a very comfortable life either.

I thought of contacting Dana Krempels from Allexperts.com but it shows she is on vacation and a quick google search doesn’t reveal to much.   But I found an answer she gave to someone else from the Philippines regarding neutering resources: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Rabbits-…ppines.htm

I also found a humane and rescue group PAWS, Philippine Animal Welfare Society http://paws.org.ph/site/450/default.aspx  Though they do seem to be focused on cats and dogs, they may have more information if you are able to contact them directly.

I found these two Philippine vet listings from the Bunspace List — shows their contact info and includes other peoples comments about them. Of course, I have no idea if they are near you but it’s worth checking out:

I am so sorry to hear about your situation!

Personally if that were my rabbit, I’d risk the surgery with a less rabbit experienced vet (if there are absolutely no options) rather than have his testicles burst; leaving him in excruciating pain and ending up having to be euthanized. Please, please keep us updated I am really worried about this guy…

You’ve gotten some great links for bunny resources in the Phillipines. You might have to travel, but I cannot stress the importance of a vet trip for this boy (but, you know that!).
