a couple months back, my Bun Bun Pixel  was sneezng and had a wet nose, I got him in to the vet the next day, and he was diagnosed with snuffles and on meds for a month.

This website http://www.raising-rabbits.com/pasteurella-multocida.html has me scared. It says snuffles is a symptom, not the illness, the illness is pasteurella. It has a pretty negative tone, and i’m really concerned.

is all that is detailed likely to happen to my bun??? should I be worried? What about his bond-bunny? should I be worried about her health?

Snuffles is a catch all term for an upper respiratory infection – I don’t agree with any vet diagnosing anything as “snuffles”. As for pasturella, truly the only way to diagnose a URI as pasturella is to do a culture and really, it’s nothing to be scared of because it’s very treatable and many rabbits may have this particular bacteria and at times they may become symptomatic and you treat it.

Because you are treating your rabbit and they are living a stress free life, you have nothing to fear.

Thanks. I was looking up info becuase my foster bun, was just tested (by another vet) for the Pasteurella.

I feel pretty relieved now.  *breaths sigh of relief*

Those sites about Pasteurella can really scare the pants off you! I went through the same thing when I got Olivia and had her tested. Just remember that not every article out there is written by an experienced rabbit vet.

Are you planning on testing your bunny?

Possibly, if it’s necessary. What do you guys think?

How is your rabbit doing now?

If you can afford it then I would, although knowing might not really change anything. I got Olivia tested because I didn’t like not being 100% sure. Her tests turned out negative even though the vet was 75% sure that was the cause of her eye infection.
