Sometimes Puck gets runny poop, which goes everywhere. His diet is ok (for a fussy bunny who won’t eat hay!) and he’s eating, running around and his usual affectionate self. But the poop… oh, it goes everywhere!

I have to bath him (sometimes daily for a while) and I wonder if it’s behavioural, or partly? It certainly gets him some attention! (Not that he isn’t spoiled anyway!)

Anyone know what might be the problem?

        Thanks.

          Hello,
          What else is he eating?
          Runny poop isnt good.
You dont fully bathe him, do you? You would just need to clean his bum, not the head/whole body.

            Hi Denise.
Firstly, his diet. He’s picky, so he has a pellet (complete) feed supplemented with fresh veggies and a bit of fruit. I’m quite fussy about what he has, but he likes most things, except hay! It’s almost impossible to get him to eat any hay. He’s always been like that and he’s 4 now.
As to his bath, I sit him in a basin of warm water (with a bit of small animal shampoo in it) and gently bathe his… er…nethers! Then we rinse. I think he enjoys that, and the cuddle in the towel afterwards! I don’t wash his whole body – he can do the rest himself!

How many pellets and how much fruit does he get daily? Does he still have hay available at all times, even if he does not eat much of it? What types of hay have you tried? What brand of pellets does he get and are they alfalfa or timothy-based, plain pellets or pellets along with “extras” (seeds, cereal pieces, etc)?

Has he been evaluated by a rabbit vet for the root cause of the poopy butt, have there been fecal tests performed?

Have you had his teeth checked? I know this seems weird but sometimes dental problems can cause “poopy” butt. And I agree, you should get a checkup from your vet as Beka mentioned.
