That is the coolest looking bunny I’ve every seen. He’s already got that awesome stripe on his back AND he’s got the tiget pattern going on on his ears. So adorbs!

Thanks! The camera doesn’t capture his beauty. He has these beautiful white and black whiskers. He is a sweetie. He just doesn’t like to be picked up but that’s not a big deal.

He is seriously awesome looking! There are lots of Rhinelanders around my area I love the way they look.

Brittany, Yes he’s eating orchard. I have an almost full 50 lb box of it from Hugo. So, that’s what he’s getting.

You can’t really see it in the picture but he has a tattoo in his ear. Must have come from a breeder. Poor little guy.
And I don’t know what it is about my floor, but rabbits seem to hate it!

Wow, he’s stunning. I can see the graceful frame that you would expect from this breed too. They are large but not chunky. Alot of large rabbits don’t feel comfortable on slicker type floors I think. Seems like the small ones navigate a slick floor fine – I guess because they don’t have the weight or mass of a larger rabbit.

He actually not that big. He might be 5 lbs. He was also on tile before. I put some rugs down in his little area for now. I opened the gate to entice him to come out but no way. Hopefully he’ll get over it. He won’t be picked up and he can’t get to carpet without crossing a room of vinyl.

He’s only 5 lbs? Well, he’s not that big at all! He’s probably just playing shy :~)

It’s funny. He wouldn’t get his breakfast until I put the rugs down. Now he stands in the doorway stretching his head out as far as he can but as soon as his paw hits the floor he’s right back in.

He certainly sounds lively and like he has a great personality. Have you tried sitting down on the ground and putting him next to you on the floor….maybe he needs to be “forced” to overcome his fear of the floor.

I sure did. He let me pet him for a minute grabbed a pellet and scuffled back to his litter box. Looks like he’s ice skating. I left his food away from the rugs and he refused to go eat it. I don’t want him to be miserable in his area. I don’t know if it’s a color things or if he’s just being silly. It’s so funny because all the bunnies are on linoleum at the shelter.

Well, I carried him to the living room where there is carpet. He is one happy boy. Binkies everywhere! So, I got an old sheet and put it across the vinyl so he could get back to his room. He has been running back and forth ever since. I’m still hopeful that he will learn that the dark brown floor (vinyl) is not bad. lol Such a silly boy.

And he runs around the room grunting!  It’s the cutest thing ever!

As he gets more comfortable, I’m sure he will be fine with the floors.

                                                    He’s beautiful!

From my own experience and from what i’ve read countless times on here, many rabbits flat-out refuse to walk on vinyl floors. It feels slippery and I think they feel that if they needed to, they wouldn’t be able to make a quick getaway. Tiles have connection points at least that add some texture and provide some traction. Vinyl, on the other hand, is completely smooth. Unless you specifically look for a rabbit that is comfortable on vinyl floors or just get lucky with one that is, you might keep encountering this problem.

Sammy has been at my place almost 4 months now, and he barely edges onto my kitchen’s vinyl floor. This is regardless of if I have treats, food or anything there. He’ll sometimes inch on the vinyl floor along the wall, James Bond style, to get to cardboard boxes I leave by my apartment door to be thrown out, but even then he’s EXTREMELY tentative.

I can’t get over how gorgeous he is. I stare at him all the time! He is a blast. I’m not attached yet though. I think it may be easy for me to not let myself as to not get hurt again. I don’t have strong feelings towards him. I like him a lot though. I’m not freaked out like last time. Things are going much better. I was actually considering taking in another one once he is settled. An upstairs down stairs kind of situation. Somebun that he is already use to sharing a house with. Not sure yet though….

He’s a wonderful house boy. He’s been running around, playing with the girls, asking for pets and not one accident on my floor! He just doesn’t like my vinyl tile. I think it’s harder than linoleum because it’s made to look like ceramic. Don’t know… He doesn’t go potty on the rugs that are down so I’ll just leave them in there and I have a sheet down so he can go from room to room.

He’s a little nervous with all the noise the girls make. He’s never been with children before. He’s going to make an excellent free range bun for someone. He’s been doing binkies all day. I don’t know that he even knows what to think. He’s finding out what it means to be spoiled! LOL

Ha ha, how nice that you’re taking care of him! Sorry to say but you’ll probably end up keeping him! Of course you’re not attached now, but that only takes a week or two… it’s all for the best. The bunny will adjust to the kids and the vinyl flooring. Yeah I feel bad that my bunny is stuck with wood floors and vinyl (except for a few small area rugs) – but in the past week I’ve seen him do full binkies on the vinyl! He figured out how to do them without wiping out! Your foster bun will be fine

None of my bunnies like the linoleum. Although funnily, Mimzy (my lop) is most fond of his bare habitat floor. If I even try to put anything soft in there, it goes straight in his mouth and gets thrown as far as he can crane his neck. But if I let him out on the kitchen floor, he’d scramble for a box and hide there until I put down something he could get a purchase on…then he’d proceed to hide some more. >.<

He does seem like such a sweetie. And definitely a stunning bun. You can tell him I said so.

We may decide to adopt him. It’s me that’s not sure (I think I’ve put up a wall) but my husband and both girls LOVE him.
