The shelter I got Hugo from contacted me last night.  We’ve been keeping in touch, talking about my progress, the bunnies and the house.  Well, they currently are over loaded with buns.  They actually need to find more foster homes because they have a waiting list of buns that need taken in.  So, she asked me if I would be interested in fostering 1 of 2 rabbits until I find the bun I want to adopt.  They are both free range in a bunny room so I wouldn’t have the same problem as I did with the boys and not have room for a pen.

I think it sounds like a good idea.  I’ve always wanted to foster.  I know I want a bun in the house, I’m just not ready to adopt one yet.  I want to make sure when I adopt that it is a perfect bun for our family.  I love the thought of this and just wondered what some of you thought.  We’d be giving a bun a good home with lots of love and attention until they find their forever home.  Who knows, we might even fall in love and decide to adopt them ourselves.

        Thanks for your input!

What a perfect idea. I really admire the people that take the time to foster buns in their home.  And what better way to find the your perfect next bun?

I think it’s a great idea – you just need to not be sad when they do find your foster a forever home – that can be hard to do initially BUT then you realize somebun has a new home and you can now offer your home to a new homeless rabbit and the cycle continues. I think the attachment is the hardest part and you have to be strong and allow them to go to their new home when it’s found.

Thanks Sarita. You’ve pretty much confirmed exactly what I was thinking.

My Smudge was my foster bun We just couldn’t adopt her out when the time came, both me and my hubby had gotten too attached to her adorableness.

Moose was a foster bun we adopted from another foster lady. Foster buns are great, you know they have been taken care of before you adopt them, and can find out their personalities from the fosterer. So You’ll be helping to place them into a perfect home, as you will be able to match them to what someone wants

We’re going to be fostering a bun! I had the choice between 2. This one is very good with his litterbox in his cage and during his playtime. I decided on him because the other one is already free range in a foster home. I’m going to teach him to be a free range house bun. I’m very excited. I like knowing that I’m helping this bun and the ones that are waiting to get into the shelter.

He is a Rhinelander. His name is Rhinelander! Rhine for short. He is an excellent house rabbit. He loves to be out running and playing with his people and wants to do everything with them from sitting on the couch watching TV to making dinner to doing yard work (he is a great lawn mower!) Rhinelander has the most stunning markings and would make an excellent addition to any home! Rhinelander has been neutered and is excellent with his litter box!

He sounds so happy and comfortable at home with you

I heard the Rhinelander breed is very rare in the states! That is so awesome that you get to foster one

EDIT: now you have me looking at rabbits on petfinder, lol. Too bad, I can’t get another for another year or so. But this baby caught my eye. He is a REW Netherland Dwarf.. I like me Nethies..

Thanks. I’ll keep everyone update. I’m pretty sure I’m good at that! lol Now I have to wait till Monday evening to pick him up.

                          Brittany, those babies are adorable!

Mocha, you’re from WI right? He probably is the same one. The shelter has had him for a year now.
I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want these beautiful buns that they have had for so long.

Brittany, I had to tell you. Every time my girls see your bunny in your signature they say “it’s Princess ChaCha!” I think they like her name.
