Trick or treating with the kids?  If so, what are your children dressing up as.

        Passing out candy?

Going to a party?  If you are dressing up, what are you dressing up as?

Hiding out from the kids so you don’t have to pass out your trick or treat candy?

Anyone torturing their rabbit by dressing them up?  If so, post photos.

Unfortunately, my husband works on Halloween from 2:00pm-11:00pm. Normally the 2 of us would have a nice dinner or a date night sort of thing. We met on Halloween night 12 years ago. So it’s like an anniversary for us.
My girls can’t trick or treat because of food allergies. They wouldn’t be able to eat any of it. So I don’t keep that kind of candy in the house either. I think we’ll hide this year so no one knows we home! lol =)

Amy, what about trick or treating and then donating the candy? I’m not sure where to though, but it seems a shame not to get to dress up and go out.

This year, as with last year, we’re handing out chocolate chip cookies. Costco sells big boxes of Dad’s cookies, 2 in a package, 48 packages per box. I like knowing exactly how much I start out with because (I’m such a geek) I actually keep a spreadsheet and track how many kids we get every year. I even break it down in 15 minute intervals so I can see where the peaks are, and I note the temperature each year so I can see if a drop in number is due to weather. Anyway, I hand out chocolate chip cookies. And I usually dress up a little bit.

              My schedule this year:
              Friday – carving
Saturday – Morning: taking foster kittens over to my mother’s so a potential adoptee can see them (did I mention I have a new batch?); afternoon: carving, and teaching mom’s boyfriend how to carve; Evening: family birthday dinner and then carving, and some house decorating.
Sunday – decorating and finishing up any carving I didn’t get done (hopefully there won’t be any to finish).
              – Annette

They have a ton of dress up close and dress up all year long. They’d be too upset if they couldn’t eat any of the yummy looking candy. I always buy a few bags on clearance the day after Halloween that I know is safe for them to eat. I don’t think they’re missing out on anything.

I found out a few days ago that kids are not allowed to trick or treat in my apartment complex, so I don’t have to hide

Gee, I had almost forgotten that Halloween is the anniversary of the day I met Sammykins.

She’s named for Samantha from Bewitched. Are you familiar? Well, she’s MY familiar. Boo!
(To answer the question, I have to work all weekend, but might wear my cat face t-shirt again to work. The museum show is on cats and I wore it last Sunday.)

Halloween is my ULTIMATE FAVORITE holiday!!!!!!!! I usually go all out with my daughter. It brings MANY nice memories of when I was in highschool!! Im dressing up as a cirque bezerk sexy clown (sort of like a pin-up girl with a clown face) and Luna (my daughter) is dressing up as a broken porcelain doll (she had to dress up as tinkerbell for school today since they wouldnt allow her to dress up as broken porcelain doll she was pretty upset, she said she didnt want to be like everyone else), Im taking  her on sunday afternoon so she could get her make-up professionally done at this Hollwood studio.  Luna looooooooooves Halloween eventhough she doesnt really eat the candy she just loves the thrill of going trick-or-treating and seeing everybody dressed up. This is my schedule. from 6-8pm im trick-or-treating with my daughter and some of my friends, 8-10pm were going to a nearby carnival, After taking Luna home and putting her to sleep and then thats when the real Halloween partying starts 11:30-1:30 going to a club in Hollywood with my friends and boyfriend. So yeah come monday morning im’a call out sick This is the only day of the year Luna gets to stay awake past 8pm but she’s a trooper since she hangs on till the very last second and still begs to be able to go back out to see all the scary people. LOL!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN BINKY BUNNY FORUM!!!! (im saying happy halloween right now just in case I dont get to  pop in on sunday to say it to all of you!)

A little bit?   ( < I'm using the 'confused' face smiley specifically for the raised eyebrow)

Halloween is not really done here, though I am hearing more of parties each year for the adults to dress up in there spooky stuff. Some areas kids are starting to trick or treat. I actually have scheduled treaters…lol. The tweenagers on the street are having a party and they door knocked last weekend to give notice that they’d be trick or treating this Sunday 3pm. haha, kinda funny but a least we can be prepared.

@ Amy, you could do a surprise late night supper for hubby. There might be just a small gap before the clock ticks over.  It’s a shame about the candy limitations for your girls. Though alot of that stuff you probably wouldn’t want any kids eating anyway! It’s the colours that are really bad in my opinion.  I thought about baking things to give treater but then thought parents mightn’t like their kids having things where they don’t know the ingredients. So I’ll go the recognisable commerical candy route. It’s ironic to me that this would be considered the safer alternative.

Well we’ve only been in this house/location for 2 1/2 years, so I don’t have a lot of data from it so far.  I know in Edmonton it was a little confusing because we had a really good year as far as kids in 2005, 2006 sucked because it was -6C at 6pm, but the year after the numbers stayed the same even though it was quite warm.

For the last 2 years here there wasn’t much difference in the number of kids, although it was down slightly last year and it was just a wee bit colder too.

I really should be noting what day of the week Halloween is on, although honestly I don’t know that makes all that much of a difference.

I also get my  mother to give me her totals and she’s been seeing a slow decline in the number of kids trick or treating.

I have a take home midterm for my music form and anaylsis class over the weekend. I have no plans. I also live in the hills so we will maybe have 5-10 kids. After my brother (He’s 18) that was pretty much the last generation of kids in my neihborhood) Plus…no one wants to climb this hill.

Haha, Lintini, I live on a hill as well.. LOL. My dad got a bag of 55 snack sized Kitkats in different flavors.. DOUBLE chocolate, white chocolate, and something else I can’t remember.

I’m just working on Halloween and get off at 6:30 pm. Myself and a coworker has to pass out candy from 4 pm til closing time at 6. I go home, and pass out more candy to whoever comes to the door.

I am taking in all of the Halloween movies and stuff! This is the first year I won’t be dressing up I was a sailor last year.

haha. Well it was kind of a courtesy thing I think. As Trick or Treating and Halloween traditions is not common here, so mentioning they’ll be doing it lets people be prepared if they want to be involved. Or a chance to let them know if you prefer they don’t come door knocking.

Last year I had a small group of boys knock and I didn’t have anything. I felt bad for them. They had adults accompanying them and they sung out not to worry. So I guess this was happening at many homes as we weren’t prepared for treaters.

I’m somewhat prepared. I have some chocolate bars on hand but I kinda made some inroads into them last night. So I’ll have to replenish the bowl.

I think I got scared of the T&T routine when we’d have kids who were OBVIOUSLY 18 or over coming to the door in black clothes, hoods and stockings with pillowcases outheld for candy. 0_o

We’re probably too cold and not enough small kids on the street where I live anymore. Still hubby got 3 bags of sweets to ‘hand out’…but which will probably wind up as his midnight snacks. >.<

I have stuff to dress in, but don’t really feel well enough to do so. Shame, I bought makeup and tats and everything.

I get really annoyed by the older ones. I figure if you’re old enough to be working and buying your own candy then you’re too old for trick or treating.

Now mind you, I’m also somewhat annoyed by the really young ones too. Like REALLY young. A member of my family took their daughter out to the mall for their trick or treating event yesterday. She’s 5 months old. I mean, seriously? I said wow what did they have for her? Candy. No, she’s not getting the candy, she’s too young for it, so her mom will be eating it. Listen I’m sorry but an infant is not just a cute accessory to use as an excuse for trick or treating.

Taking a wee little one to Disney I can understand. They get that look of wonder and amazement and pure joy when they see the characters, and even if the little ones don’t remember it the parents will. But what is anyone going to get from taking a 5 month old to get candy?

Well darn.. I was going to buy pumpkins last night after my hair appt. but I ended up with a strange dog in my house. Today (if not yesterday) they were sold out of pumpkins!!

So I picked up eyeball lights and a graveyard kit. Lights are up-but its cold out and windy so the graveyard will go up tomorrow. I was wanting to buy Mikey a pumpkin costume but with things as crazy as they are, he’ll have to wear last years pirate costume (it’s a kids costume I sewed to fit him). I really hope our scardy cat sweet stray will tolerate tomorrow well.

                                                  Bought candy today.

Dave and I click here-we both don’t like halloween parties and feel like dorks dressing up. So while pretty much the whole city is out tonight dressed up-we’re at home in normal cloths heheh I get dressing up is fun-but just not fun for me or Dave. However Mikey seems to like wearing things and he’ll dress up tomorrow

Buns not dressed up-they’d kill me in my sleep heheh
