Yesterday when I got up, still in my pajamas, my boyfriend Michael and I went outside with Franz on a harness! I got a really nice leash that is for yorkie and chihuahua puppies and you can’t even feel it extend and it’s light. Franz didn’t mess with his harness or the leash! I let him walk around the house first and he was being his normal bunny self. In the video he hops around in the grass and then when my boyfriend is holding the leash (lol) he runs under a car in the driveway and we have to get him out haha. We were careful after that not to let him go into bushes and stuff. He had fun and he had a good nap after cause he was all tuckered out!

First video: just skip through it a little long. Sorry I’m in my jammies lol.

Second video: Just cute Franz hopping in the grass XD FWUFFY! I like the breeze in his fur. I think I do a good job brushing him

He looks like he is enjoying himself I am always happy to see bunnies come out and enjoy the fresh air, the sunlight, the smells, the fresh vegetation etc. I was wondering why you need a leash on him though, because it looks like most of your garden is fenced? He seems fine with the leash though, so that is great, but I just imagine that it would be more fun for him if he could hide in a bush or just for your own sake, you could just sit somewere else and watch him.

Perhaps in the spring you can make a small area for him in the garden with wheat grass or something like that.

I want to eventually fix the yard but as of now there’s like a 1 1/2 foot gap where the fence ends behind the bushes, and the fence has a lot of holes where he could just run out. Also I haven’t gotten a little gate yet it’s totally open and he found the exit right away lol. The wire is really cheap though at the hardware store! I think I will buy a bunch and bunnyproof my yard. also there is a hole to the basement… and underneath the porch has god knows what there. I moved in here recently and there’s a huge pile of branches under the porch. I don’t think I would ever get him out if he got in there. Also the bush he went in was full of stickers! Like long needle ones. I didn’t know until afterward though. So I have a lot of work to do I’m afraid. Also I think he might’ve poked his eye in the bush! It’s really red in the corner… I’m watching it though poor baby.

I’m a little concerned about the leash, because they can be dangerous to a bunny suddenly, so a harness, if he tolerates it, is less of a problem.
The thing to be aware of is the risk of pesticides on your yard, so if you know you don’t use any that’s a good start. Just be careful to learn if your neighbor might use some that could blow onto your own grass. The risks outside are toxins, entanglement in leashes or bushes as you know, and predators from above in particular. So supervising him while he enjoys himself is great. (He’s very handsome, btw.)
