Lolli was under a chair, in her spot.  I tried to give nose pets and she growled at me!  hahaha   It’s such a little sound that it always makes me laugh.  And yes, I quit trying to pet her, but took some pictures which i will post sometime.  It’s my fault cause I was messing with her during her sleepy time. lol

So I tried cleaning her ears and only got one done last week.  I got bitten and she kept fighting me so I quit.  She stil has itchiness in her ear that I cleaned.  At least I think it’s itchiness.  She has now scratched the fur off the back of that ear.  She keeps shaking her head too.  And there’s dry skin down in there that I can see.  So tomorrow she will be going for an ear cleaning.

Can someone explain why an ear cleaning is $18?  I normally would never take her, but they are really bothering her obviously.  Is $18 a lot?  It seems like a lot to me, but I guess it’s not quite as simple at clipping nails.  But then, it doesn’t seem like it should be that much either.  lol

No, that doesn’t seem like alot to me. Your paying for someone’s time and their supplies – I cannot explain how vet offices determine their costs but there is a cost involved with this.

ok. I just have no clue about this stuff. lol i was told that my vet was one of the more expensive ones in my area, so I was just curious.

Well she did what I thought she was doing!

I hold her and pet her at night which she doesn’t like until I start petting her. But she doesn’t start fighting me until she’s had enough. Well tonite I picked her up and she immediately started grooming me. I think she thinks that if she gives me kisses, I’ll put her down cause as soon as she did it, she was starting to try to bite me to be released. LOL Ah my little sweet stinker!

I’m assuming the supplies involved with ear cleaning is what goes into the cost of it? O.o

HEHEHE, ever since I’ve gotten home from my trip last Sunday, Chacha has been rebelling like nuts.. she snubbed her hay and lettuce that I gave to her when I got home (she ate what my dad gave her, but with me.. oh my) and thumped and grunted at me!! That is VERY un Chacha

Yeah, Lolli’s turning into a little diva Queen. lol Some morning she demands lettuce by sitting next to her lettuce spot (where I put the lettuce on the floor).

I’ve never heard of a bun needing an ear cleaning. Is that normal?

I hadn’t heard of that per se, but her ears definitely need to be looked at from the sound of the condition that’s bothering her, so it’s actually very reasonable cost for an ear exam. Just be sure to ask if there is something wrong that needs further examination by the vet.

Divas are fussy, even about their pets. “That spot. NOT that spot, that spot!”

If she’s shaking and scratching a lot, do you think it could be ear mites? Momo has been treated for those in the past, and it’s a really easy, one-time treatment. She was scratching at her ears, and they were dry and a little crusty on the inside. Now they’re perfect!

I know that when she got sutures last December, they cleaned her ears. I didn’t know it until I looked at my receipt. I was a bit peeved cause it was fine they did it, but TELL ME BEFORE doing it to make sure, ya know? lol Never said anything then about there being anything wrong. I did try a couple of weeks ago to clean her ears and a bunch of white gunk came out. But I only got one ear done cause she kept fighting me and then bit me really hard. Still have the mark. lol So at the very least they need cleaned.

Normally she has no problems with her ears. Just lately, she keeps scratching at them and shaking her head.

So it’s $18 cause the vet does it. lol And of course she was good for the vet. I got bit when I tried to clean them. And she was totally snuggly and wanted held cause she was scared so I got to thinking that maybe I should take her to the vet more often! LOL Just kidding. Can’t afford it.

Well, Chacha has been doing the same thing as your Lolli. She has an appointment on Nov 5th. It has been a reccuring thing.

I read on HRS with ear problems, and I am making a guess here – Chacha may have Otitis Media. An ear infection that is causing shaking and scratching. I am not 100% sure, but all of the symptoms she is having is right on the dot. The ruptured ear drum, ear redness. The vet said it wasn’t ear mites and they could not find out why (my previous vet).

Otitis Media is very common in house rabbits actually.
