I’ve posted once in awhile for the last little bit, i’ve been having a tough time keeping up with the buns, school, and well, life. So here’s the scoop.

        Bunnies –

I got my x-pen deal as you all know, but turns out.. my sweet littl eweel behaved hershey enjoys freedom and would either jump the pen, or if she couldn’t.. destroy it -.-  so after much pleading and trying to entertain the sweet little devil, i gave up. hershey was switched with twix. Twix never jumps, i thought it was because she was too fat but she was just nervous. now that her training has ceased due to bad weather, she has been entertaining herself by running around outside of the x-pen. UGH! now both have learned how to jump over the pen, and despite my best efforts to keep them occupied, continuously jump over the top. a few days ago hershey manages to get out of her cage while twix was out and i was aat school. my moms boyfriend put them back in their cages and never told me that BOTH were out at the same time, so i never checked hershey for marks.. petting hershey yesterday i descovered some deep gashes on her hips.. half healed and not infected THANK GOD! hersheys cage is not always locked. and im searching for something to secute the x-pen with. Any idea’s???

        Myself –

For my birthday in september my mom and i went on a trail ride. I’ve always been obbsessed with horses and that was my first time on one. Now that i have been on one, my life has changed. my childhood dream of owning one, has come alive again. I posted an add on kijiji saying, i would like to find a nice, beginner, bomb-proof horse to ride (not to buy) and got tons of replies from people who wanted their horses excersized. i got a nice reply from a trainer, she trains, and shows horses and gives riding lessons, she works by herself and owns 2 horses, shes willing to train me in english, western, dressage, jumping, and rodeo, so i can help her with her horses and lessons, showing the horses, and her rodeo circut next summer, im sooo excited.

so, in conclusion, i’ve been extreamly busy and will continue to be, but i’m still around, and i’ll try to check in as much as possible!!  i’ve missed posting on here!!

          Hi Mirbear!

Sounds like you have lots going on! With regards to the pen-jumping issue, Sammy was trying to jump over (though by the wall) recently, so I temporarily covered the top of his pen with a bed sheet cut to the right size, secured by binder clips.

Any type of cloth with any type of removable clips (like clothespins even) would work.

After around a month with the sheet over his pen whenever i had to close him in it, Sammy got the idea I think. I no longer use the sheet and he hasn’t tried jumping out.

Definitely try a cover of some sort, be it a sheet or some NIC grids zip tied together to form a ceiling. Having that barrier would deter them from trying to jump out.

              Hi there!

So you got to go on the trail ride? That’s great!!! & that it might be opening up a whole new world. How did your Mum like it – does she ride?

With the pen, a sheet really is the easiest solution. Just that visual barrier is enough of a deterrant.

on a side note; a member posted before about the toon avatars you guys have. I brought up Sani’s profile and saw link to her deviantart page. She has all your bunnies on her page. Lots of people like! Mir, your twins were popular. :o)

Naughty naughty girl buns… I am glad no 1 was really hurt!

That is awesome that you got to go on a trail ride! It’s too bad you don’t live closer, my mom is often looking for people to help her unblanket Opie in the mornings or lunge him if she can’t make it up there. He also has a hay dunking bucket that needs to be changed everyday. He grabs a mouth full of hay, then sloshes it around in the water bucket, then eats it! YUM! It’s about a 40min drive to the stable from our house and my mom drives there everyday so when something comes up like my symphony concerts or something, she always has to pay someone to help her out. So I know people will be very interested in having you help them with their horses. It’s a win win situation! When you get started you better take a ton of photos for us!!!

i use foldback clips to secure NIC grids… maybe it would work for you too?   have you tried clipping a blanket over the top of the xpen?

nice to know you’re keeping busy =)

                      Glad to hear from ya!

So you’ve been bitten by the horse bug eh? It happens to the best of us! I can relate to “now that I’ve been on one my life has changed.” I started taking lessons in grade school and immediately fell in love with horses. 18 years later, I’m still in love. You might enjoy the site Horschannel.com. Lots of fun stuff and info.
