so I was changing my bed sheets and Jenny was hanging out with me in my room, I had moved my matress out from the wall, and I lifted it a little to push it back..dropped it down  and could not figer out why the heck my matress would not fall properly and would not push in, I was dropping it pushing it, picking it up again, crawling on it to look at the walls etc… then I heard a noise..I lifted it up, peered underneith and realized WHY my matress would not go where I wanted it..Jenny had hopped up in between the box spring and the matress and was walking around in between while I was struggling with it! she’s fine thank goodness, but good lord, I nearly had a heart attack when I realized she had jumped in there  she is always with me when I change my sheets, she has never jumped under the matress before!

LOL, I’m only laughing because your bun is OK, and I can sympathize! A similar thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, I was putting some stuff away in the bathroom rolling cabinet, and when I tried to close the drawer it wouldn’t close all the way, so I did the exact same thing you did, open it and try to shove it closed, it took me about three tries before the bunny jumped out! I was so shocked! You and I both learned our lesson and won’t try to force things into their spot without wondering “is there a bunny in there?” again!!!! It was a shock for me because Bun-Bun never goes into the bathroom. I felt bad but it didn’t even occur to me… geez… he was all right too so it’s all good.

OMG, I would’ve dropped dead right there! 0_o this reminds me of the story that one of our members told about the hubby jumping on the bed to get the bunnies out from under it…who was that again? The bedframe actually cracked under the strain and luckily did not crush the bunnies. Needless to say, they came out. ^_^
Thank goodness your bun was okay after all that!

Jenny’s new trick? Rabbits can go pretty flat when they need to I suppose. Glad to hear she was ok. I know that feeling when you realise though. I did the same as Maya with a drawer. They’re plastic that I have rabbit supplies in. I pulled one out, Jersey stuck head in behind it, then I tried to shut drawer not realising. She was fine but I was worried!   She’s also been shut in the fridge before, we don’t know how long she was in there.

I read this last week on a rabbit site in regards to housing/bunny proofing. It’s so apt:

Considering they are prey species, they can be extremely tardy removing themselves from the pathway of an opening door and their tendency to dance around your ankles in a bid for attention demand a level of awareness to prevent injury to either party.  http://www.rabbit-information.co.uk/rabbit-housing.php

Not to mention their level of curiousity! This stuff is bound to happen.

@ Mimz (HI MIMZ!! You’re alive!) That would be mrmac’s hubby. heheheh!

In my old apartment, the refrigerator opened outwards so it blocked the doorway. Eddie NEVER followed me all the way into the kitchen. Bet you can guess what happened? One night he decides to follow me. Only I don’t know it so i smack him in the head with the fridge door. Owww! I don’t think I hit him that hard cause I wasn’t like ripping the door open or anything. But he got treats and fussed over BIG TIME!

I also shut him in the closet cause I didn’t know he was in there. And it was like 3 hours before I realized it. I thought he was under the bed. lol Then I started thinking about it and how I hadn’t seen him since i had the closet opened. So I started looking for him and finally opened the door and he was just sitting there with his disapproving face. LOL He got fussed over then too but also scolded since I got the grumpy face. lol You know, they give you the disapproving look and flick their feet as they hop off like it’s YOUR fault. haha

                      I would have died lol.

But I have done something similar recently. I was getting the bunny veggies out for the night and Walter apparently decided to help himself to the drawer and I didn’t notice. Well I shut the drawer and the refrigerator door to go feed the buns. I searched EVERYWHERE for him usually he is the first to the feeding area being the piggy that he is. No Walter anywhere. So I am walking through the house to the living room to see if he was in there and I hear scratch scratch scratch. Looked all around the kitchen still no Walter. Then I hear a loud banging coming from the refrigerator and he was IN the veggie drawer!!!!

Needless to say I freaked out and then called the vet in a panic who laughed at me lol. Scared me to death and now I triple check the whole refrigerator every time I open it.
