I am looking for a flemish rabbit female or male. My son wants to raise as he says real big bunnys. He is only 6 but I thought what a good chance to show him about taking care of somthing. Please email me if u have anything or call ******* thanks

I e-mailed her and gave my pep talk about how bunnies aren’t starter pets, yadda yadda, the costs Lucy has given me so far, etc, and recommended she come here, because it just really doesn’t seem like the kind of post where someone has ACTUALLY researched the subject.  Things like this honestly kill me.  I just want to slap some people!

I’m really not a fan of craigslist posting pets.  I was online in my area last night seeing all the animals (not just rabbits) who are “free to a good home” or “need to find home today or else!” it almost made me want to cry…. to see people who’ve had these animals for 5 years and can just give them up free to a good home….i’m not going to lie, i’ve been tempted to re home my bunnies cause i have so many and so little time or my puppy cause he requires so much time and attention but it’s not their fault i adopted them or adopted more….I understand everyone has situations but it took all my restraint last night not to email the one bunny “owner” that she should not offer her 8mo old rex free to good home as it could become snake food or human food for that matter…..i want to help them all but that’s how i ended up with 7 bunnies and a rescued puppy….

            That’s too bad 🙁

I got Hannah on Craigslist. I told myself I would only consider already spayed lops (because there weren’t any in shelters and we wanted to exhaust the lop population first) and she happened to be available. Her old owner took good care of her for 3 years, but just couldn’t be around enough to give her the care she needed anymore. She really wanted her to go to a good bunny family and I think she did the right thing by re-homing, but I felt bad that poor Hannah had to be up on Craigslist where any random family could’ve taken her for snake food. Hopefully the old owner would’ve only let her go to a good family (she did ask for pictures of Otto’s cage and everything).

I’m FB friends with the girl and noticed that she just got two kittens a few months ago. So you couldn’t take care of a bunny anymore, but two cats are ok? I just don’t get it.

That’s the thing. And I’d never get a 6 year old a bunny, let alone a “big bunny”. We all know that bunny is going to end up in a cramped cage, with little to no activity because they will realize how much care and effort it takes, and they won’t want to do it. Then THAT bunny will end up on craigslist and he’ll end up people food because no one will want a “big bunny”. I do! But I don’t have the room, and we can’t save them all unfortunately

Its just sad….watching the cycle of pets through that site. I mean, sometimes they luck out and get to be in a FOREVER home with people, like elrohwen, who will love them forever and take care of their every need. But some will just be put in a cage, or outside and wait for the inevitable to happen….
