I’ve had some wood chewing blocks for my bunny since I got him, and he doesn’t seem to care which is fine it’s a just in case thing. Anyhow. I showed him one and he tasted it and then … proceeded to taste all the cabinets. I’m thinking since he has a million rabbit things to chew on to not encourage him to chew on wood? So far he hasn’t chewed on anything inappropriate… I just want to keep it that way!

You will have to teach him what is appropriate to chew on and what’s not. And will forever have to remind him.

Lolli doesn’t like any of the wood I have provided for her to chew. Apparently they are beneath her. But the end tables are pretty darn yummy. I have given up on the end tables. I mean, not given up. I still tell her no and shoo her away cause she always tries to chew. But I’ve accepted that they have been fully anointed by both bunnies. I should mention that I have hand me down furniture that is at least 15 years old. If I ever get new or newer furniture, Lolli’s not touching ANY of it.

haha yeah I just got two couches and a table off of craigslist for 200. I’m really worried about my 2000 dollar bose speakers!! The cables run to the back stands across the living room. Cable runners are mad expensive and I was thinking about laying down some duct tape. I don’t think he will chew it and if he does I will find something else. I just don’t want him to notice the cables by tripping on them and going “hey … om nom nom! He nibbled on it for more than a taste and I said “NO” and he didn’t like that. I’ve only used NO that one time, I thought I would reserve it for something really bad. Ithink it works… You think laying down a good strip of gorilla tape to the floor is ok? I think so as long as there are no edges for him to grab. (hardwood floors)

You’ll need to thoroughly bunny-proof. Rabbits don’t typically begin to chew/exhibit mischievous behavior until they are comfortable in the home. So it’s not uncommon for the first couple weeks to have a very well-behaved bunny… but things change…. lol! Wires must be enclosed or blocked, furniture can be blocked if needed, baby gates installed to keep him in certain areas, etc… Baseboards have always been a favorite in my house. The difference between a wood chew and a wood cabinet/table/baseboard is that the chew is not stationary, the cabinet/table/baseboard is. Try building a wood hidey house that he can gnaw on, see if that helps.

Beka has covered everything well but I would like to emphasise covering the cables as well. He WILL chew the cables, it’s just a case of when.
