Okay, I want to know what your bunnies LOVE!!!!! I am going to add some new toys and things such as willow ball w/hay in it, willow baskets, boxes etc…. I want to know what the bunny faves are! Please post them here. I, and I am sure others would appreciate it! Thanks!

Oh, I am wanting to know all the faves…not JUST toys. You know, treats, hidey places, etc…

*p.s. Homemade toys are good too

Oh, and does anyone have any idea how to MAKE to maze havens out of boxes? If so, do you have a picture? I want one but don’t want to order one Thought it would be a fun project anyway! Thanks!

Mine like phone books and wire cat balls with a bell inside. The ‘cat’ crincle tunnel is a favorite among everyone! Tunnles are fun but the crincle ones beats them all. Toilet paper rolls, with or without hay and treats stuffed in them, and just plain empty boxes, or willow type toys.
Bags are fun, specially ones I am filling with dirty litter , oh and the dust pan… .

My rabbits like big things that they can push out of the way. Little toys they don”t care for much. Digging is another favorite activity. Basic destruction is what they prefer over anything.

When you insert a large photo, Mocha, and it appears in your post-window you can right-click on it and it will get white corners. You can mouse over a white corner and shrink the photo that way if you want.

So, are there several boxes inside of one another? It looks that way. That’s a good idea!

My rabbits enjoy stripping branches. The bigger the better.

Maze haven! Nuff said. Otto will spend 90% of this day in that thing. They’ve destroyed the floor to the point where they can’t fit together on the second level, so Hannah usually sleeps on the lower level. Except for the moments she is determined to snuggle and squishes Otto into a corner in order to fit her big but on the remaining cardboard. lol

No other toy comes close to the maze haven in their eyes.

yes there is a box inside so they can jump up and look out of the whole on top. they haven’t figured out how to jump onto the top of the box yet though. i was wondering if oaks are ok for rabbits? like leaves and branches. cuz we have a LOT of oaks, i know they are poisonis to horses and rabbits are kinda similar to horses. And if the oak has oak wilt is it bad?

Oak wilt is a fungus and oak thus affected should never be offered to a bunny. The livestock toxicity you mention refers to oak leaves and acorns. So, if you have any oak branches that are free from leaves, acorns and wilt, you may dry those for three months and offer to your bunnies.

ok… how soon will they be affected if they got sick. cuz they have eaten oak leaves before.

Oak is used in wine making (barrels to store wine, bottle corks) so it is not toxic to humans and generally this means that it’s also safe for rabbits. Wild rabbits destroy oak trees by stripping the bark off and only the leaves and acorns are listed on my toxic plant list.

                                    http://www.adoptarabbit.com/articles/toxic.html

Mocha, I wouldn’t worry too much about the leaves already eaten, just don’t let them do it again. You would have seen ill effects if they had consumed enough to get sick. Oak leaves cause diarrhea in livestock.

To add to the thread now, Monkey adores her mini willow balls, and Moose loves his willow cubes. When he doesn’t nibble on the pile of sticks he leaves after, Monkey is happy to take them and make them vanish over time

Great ideas! Monkey, I love the box idea! Petzy, the big things to move around idea would definetly fit Bella. She is not interested in a lot of toys other than her ball that I only saw her play with once! Baxter is just bored outta his mind until I come play with him! I can’t let him out to free roam until he is neutered though He does have quite a bit of space to play though. Andi, I am going to get some crinkle tubes! Great ideas!

Oh, I bought a tote that I plan on cutting doors in and I bought a paper shredder. Diggy box time! I went with the tote instead of a box because my daughter thought it was prettier lol. I also bought some more peel and stick tiles because they were on sale! Don’t know what I’m going do with those yet! lol I want the maze haven! I would have to buy 2 of them though and pay for shipping. With all of the money I’ve spent and will be spending at the vet I need something a little cheaper lol.

Hmmm….what to do next? Boy do I have a list! What about a wooden maze haven? I do have safe scrap wood laying around and I have peel n sticks! What a cool project that would be. And…it would last forever and they can chew it. Also on my list: Crinkle tubes, willow balls, diggy box (already have the stuff), Willow baskets, AND, I am going to use my new sewing machine I bought several months ago (haven’t used it yet lol). I am going to make them each a cute pet bed. I have a ton of scrap fabric!

I’ll just make it simple and cheap enough to either patch the chewed spots and replace it when needed. I will take a pic of it!

My big lop girl, Pringles, loves an old sheet in the condo. In the summer I take the rugs out so it slips and slides on the vinyl floor. I wad it up and she jumps in the middle and spends a long time scooting and pushing it around with her front legs. I didn’t know what she was doing until I saw the youtube of the rabbit digging a tunnel and pushing the dirt around the same way. If I really want to keep her busy I fold it up and she has to worry it to get it undone.

More than likely poly fil because it holds up better in the washer. I went to Petsmart today and looked at some of thier pet beds to get an idea of how to make the pattern. They are not cheap at all! For 2 bunnies that would be expensive. I am going to work on it this weekend. I will take some pics and post them Monday or Tuesday for you.

I made Bella a diggy box using a tote I cut 2 doors in. I sanded it so it wouldn’t be sharp or jagged where I cut. I put shredded paper in it. She keeps exploring it but I haven’t actually seen her dig yet. I know she will soon though I’m going to make one for Baxter tomorrow. I got Baxter some Mega Munch willow sticks. They are bark covered willow branches (a bunch tied together). He already chewed off the branch on one side of them. He will with the other side too. Then they will just be a bunch of willow branches everywhere lol. He loves to just tear things up. I need to get an extra phone book! I live in the Metropolis area of 3 larger cities so our phonebooks are pretty big Bella got a new willow treat ball that I stuffed with Timmy Hay. So far, she hasn’t even touched it. They are difficult to please! Any GREAT fool proof ideas I can copy from someone. I am at a loss! I want to make them something they will love and get excersize from. Baxter is a loafer. He doesn’t really do a whole lot. Bella is a busy body and won’t sit still for long enough to play with anything!

I could probably email you one So far, Baxter likes to sit in and on top (mostly on top) of his kitty condo. He tears everything up so I made his flooring with wood and peel n stick tiles. They stay cool so he really likes to lay on those. He doesn’t get much satisfaction out of cardboard other than his tube. His favorite thing is to just run.lol. He also loves to pick things up and move them. He’s wierd. He is so full of energy and very entertaining when I play with him but when I am not paying attention to him, he loafs around. BUT, I just shredded some paper and put it in a longer narrow tote and he is all over that! He is a diggy box bun! That’s his new thing! He is funny with it. I am watching him right now and he is jumping in the tote, then jumping out and doing binkies! lol. He only does binkies when he is REALLY HAPPY!!! Then, he goes back into his tote and pushes the shredded paper and moves it one by one. lol.

Takes up alot of room…at least we have a pathway!!!

Bella is a lighter color than yours but her ears are starting to turn darker like your Dutch. Does thier fur grow back a little darker after they lose thier baby fur? May be a dumb question lol

but if you look at my avatar, you will see Sammy sticking her nose out of her absolutely favorite thing. Originally a Joann Fabric Laundry basket (precut holes for handles) it is peeled willow or wicker. I put newspaper in it for a diggy box – she didn’t touch it. Then turned it upside down one day, and being little, she squeezed through the handle hole and sat there for hours. So I cut one side bigger, she gets in easily, and she chewed a window out of the side that faces the sliding door. She sits there every morning for her self-cleaning paw bath, watching the sunrise. She goes in at night to watch the sunset, then comes out for her supper.

She did not like visitors, as you can see in the picture.

He just can’t seem to get a good grip on it with his teeth! It’s okay if he leaves chew marks on it. It’s my craft table. There is paint stains on the top of it. I know from that pic it looks like he is under a table in a kitchen or dining room. lol. It’s actually my craft area. lol.

Rabbit Pam, that’s a good idea. I have a basket just like that. I will have to do that for Baxter.

*I’ve been causing problems for him. lol. He really like when I put a frozen water bottle wrapped up in a towel in his pen. It keeps him busy. He keeps at it until he gets the bottle of water out of the towel. Then, he licks it and plays with it. I check on him often when he does this because I don’t want him getting all wet from it and getting sick

As you said, RabbitPam, they’re such fragile little things! Dustor is crazy about willow too. And f it’s not peeled, he’ll peel it!

and their newest (AND cheapest) and most thrilling toy right now is a brown paper lunch bag stuffed with hay. Why do I spend so much money on these buns when all I need is a bag and hay? lol

I have some hilarious pics of Oreo wearing her bag on her head trying to get the last pieces out…if I remember I’ll upload later. It’s also a great way to entice them to eat more hay…I refill it at least once a day (would do it more if I were home). I used to tie it off on each end and poke holes in it, but they seem to like the bag just as much without the extra fuss (I cut the top part of the bag off so they can easily reach the bottom of the bag).

                                                                                                                                                                    1) Take a brown paper bag (lunch bag size), and just cut some of the top off (just to make it shorter when it’s standing up open)…and then you just stuff it with hay! or whatever else you want … but i prefer just hay, no treats. I leave the bag open and just place in the pen… I don’t know why, but they find it more fun to eat this way.

                                                                                                                                                                    2) The second option is to cut off just the bottom, so you end up with two open ends….tie off one end with natural twine (or something similar) and fill with hay. Then tie off the other open end also with twine. Finally, if your bunnies are not savvy enough to chew it apart (mine would give up so I had to do this), poke some holes in the bag, (i.e. with scissors) so your bunnies can see what is inside and chew away! I had to make the hole bigger and bigger in order to get the point across, which is why I just went to the plain bag, no tie-off (option 1).

                                                                                                                                                                    Does that make more sense??

They love their tube tunnel and all of their hidey boxes. They also love their maze haven…or did. I have a sad story about that actually! I would split the two level into two one levels so that before they were bonded they could each have part of it. Well…on a trip we all took, I had left one of the levels in the backseat of my car. That same trip…my car got broken into- window broken. So I took it in to get fixed and when they cleaned my car out (all the glass, etc) they also threw out the maze! I didn’t realize until it was too late so I only have one level now…I’d like to order another but have been frustrated that binkybunny doesn’t ship to PO boxes. That’s my only option at this apartment…I will probably get it shipped to a friend’s.

She likes to toss it around and it makes noise too. After a while she peed in the one of the 3 bottoms ( O.o it was like she was using a human toilet, I still have no idea how she managed to pee in that and not make a mess). Now there are only two but still loves to toss it here and there

They look nice and cool for the summer. I would like to line the floor of Dustor’s mini-haven – mini-maze – with the kind Sugarbear looks so comfortable on. Did you make them? Where did you get them? Thanks a lot!

They look nice and cool for the summer. I would like to line the floor of Dustor’s mini-haven – mini-maze – with the kind Sugarbear looks so comfortable on. Did you make them? Where did you get them? Thanks a lot!
