Thinking of building a maze for my first bunny. He likes to get under the couch after he’s done his running around and chew on the carpet. He hasn’t done any damage yet so it’ll be kind of proactive investment.

The futon has about 8-12 inches of clearance under it, so I was going to build a frame to block him off then cut a couple door ways, and build a little maze.

Maybe a rubber floor, and cloth the sides so it doesn’t look bad.

Anyone have any pictures of something like this?

You can see the black futon in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAZ6DpvoV_w I just want to build it and slide it under. I’m pretty handy, so I can build it. I just need ideas.

Well someone has a very happy bunny.

I think a maze would be a very good addition and what you suggest sounds perfect.

this is a great idea i think. our bun loves running behind the couch but we blocked off all of the edges around it so he couldn’t get underneath and destroy the couch. if we had more clearance on the couch i think i definitely would’ve loved to do something like this.

Got the wood today. I work all week, plus I’m on call this weekend so it’ll be about 2 weeks before I get it done. I’ll keep you guys updated.

That sounds great! Definitely take pix! I wish I could do that.  Leroy used to love going under the couch, but I got a new one, and bought it with him in mind (er, well, the safety of my carpet in mind!) and my new couches are only an inch or two above the floor. Make lots of entrances/exits/through-ways so he won’t feel trapped when he goes in.

Nice! IF there was enough room under my couch to do that, I’d never see Monkey lol. And I sooo <3 your bunny, adorable! *binkybinkybinky*

                          NICE!!!

You are going to have one happy bunny! One suggestion-make it openable for you-in case you have to dig the bunny out for bedtime lol

Bunnies love being under or on things so I bet he’ll be very happy!

It was suppose to be built last weekend, but winter came and it got cold. I live in a duplex so I’d have to use the saw outside.

I just wasn’t feeling it.. Now I’m not off for another 2weeks with my on-call schedule.

So you are still pending this? I would love to do something like this, however, i would be worried that I could not get in to clean it or get the rabbit?

That looks really cool! I agree with K&K though about some kind of emergency hatch, just in case you ever need to get your bunny out urgently, you’ll probably want some way to get under there.

If there’s a bottom on the maze, you could just hinge the top, that way you can pull the entire thing out from under the couch and lift the lid for cleaning and easy bunny extraction If there’s not a bottom, you might want to put one on, so you can protect your carpet! I don’t think you want to leave the top off though, in case your bunny enjoys eating the bottom of the couch.

Someone’s going to have a very entertained bunny rabbit (but make sure you can get him out of the maze in case you need to).
