I have found this 4-5 year old bunny on the same site where I found Molly. The owner was actually looking for a new home for him at the same time as I was going through the bunny list and decided on Molly, so this means that he has been looking for a new home since at least May.

It says that he is fixed, perfectly litter trained (haha, so I was told Molly was as well…at least until she moved in, then the previous owner asked if I also had problems), and that he has been free roaming out on a balcony for the past four years. So apparently he lives on the balcony.

Any idea on how big he is?? I guess he would be Molly-size? (2,5 kg, Dutch).

I really want him. He needs a good and loving home! But my boyfriend is not overly impressed by the lamp cord that was chewed yesterday, so we had to go shopping for a new lamp today, or that Molly is still struggling to be 100% litter trained. He says we have to wait with more bunnies til we have moved to a house (our apartments are up for sale so it should be within a year or so), where they can have their own room instead of living in the bedroom with us. But honestly, does one more really make such a big difference?

And do you think I can add a male to a bonded pair?

My boyfriend said no earlier today, but just now he asked if he could see a picture of him. I asked him what he thought, and he said for now it is still a no, but that he might change his opinion. So…any good ideas how to persuade him?

When I wanted Molly, the deal was that my boyfriend could get a tv (we don’t have any as there is never anything interesting on anyhow, but my boyfriend really wants one so he can get a playstation). Well, he hasn’t bought one yet, so I tried with that deal again, but unfortunately he remembered we already made such a deal. Darn it.

Is your name Karla? I’m confused. Karl and Karla.
I used to keep one rabbit free in my bedroom and it was just fine. Then I bonded him to another and they lived there together fine. When I made them into a trio with a third rabbit things got busy, noisy and messy. I don’t have them in my room at night times any more. What about bonding, do you have a space where you can keep the new rabbit and then another space for bonding the three? My personal opinion is that 2 rabbits aren’t much more space/work than 1 but by the time you get #3 you will feel the diifference.

Haha, no my name is not Karla. When I bought Karl(a), we were told it was a female and so we named him/her Karla. Hence my profile name. But Karla turned out to be a male, so the name was changed…to Karl But I didn’t change my profile name ’cause I like the name Karla.

Anyways, thanks for the info! Quite good to know. Maybe it is a bad idea at the moment then. Too bad ’cause I really think this bunny need a chance.

The bunny in the photo hits a soft spot in my heart as well. I love bunnies with freaky coats. Looks like he has some long-haired ancestry, LOL!
I’m not saying don’t go for him, but just plan ahead for bonding space etc.. If your plan is good you can also convince your boyfriend.
              That’s funny, Karla-Karl!

That poor bunny looks like he needs to be plucked big time.

I originally thought I’d like to have a herd of bonded bunnies but I have two pairs instead. I really, really want to adopt a bonded pair at my rescue AND a flemmie but honestly…two pairs is a lot of work and I’ve pretty much talked myself out of adopting the third pair.

How come your two pairs have not been bonded together? I thought I read somewhere in here the other day that the more bunnies, the easier to bond. But maybe that is not completely so?

I’m not sure about the space. I could keep him a cage in the living room and then bond them in the kitchen. I wouldn’t want to keep him in a cage for more than a week until he is settled, so I am not sure if this would work, if the bonding takes time.

IF my boyfriend says yes (he said last night it was okay if I did the dishes the next three years, and seeing we have a dishwasher, that would be just fine by me ), it would require a bunny date…’cause if there isn’t chemistry between them, I don’t think I have the space for now to take him.

It is always such a stupid idea to look at those websites with animals looking for a new home! Don’t know why I did it. I even found another one – it was a woman who had wanted her grandchild to learn to be good to animals, so she had bought a nice grey rabbit as a present. Now 6 months later, she is stuck with the bunny ’cause it didn’t work out with the child and the bunny and it is now looking for a new home…………..people!

I can have him! I went into the kitchen and saw on the shopping list, my boyfriend had written “black bunny”. He said if I could come up with a name for it, that he liked, it was mine. And so, Jack it is

I think I just have to make a new thread about 3 bunnies to find out if it is a good idea or not.

If you think you can do it, I think you should try. But be aware that they might not bond, or it may take several months. He is a cute guy. Looks like he needs some TLC.

Good luck with getting Jack, I am sure with some patience and time they may bond. Who knows, maybe Molly will remember him? I am glad your boyfrien said yes, he sounds like a softie like mine Jack needs some TLC ASAP, hope you get him soon! Keep us posted!

haha! Maybe the BF is secretly smitten with bunnies? I like the bartering system. So this is exciting…… I really hope it goes well.

Did you read that in a discussion in the bonding forum? A member there is attempting to bond 6. There has been articles where the author has observed this but it is just their personal experience. It seems nothing is concrete when it comes to bunnies.

I am always looking at the rabbit rescue’s website and craigslist, and I can’t have a 3rd bunny for at LEAST 6 more months (with all the changes I’m going to be making after graduation in December and what not- plus money is too tight for me to get a third, and my boyfriend says no period but…he’s convincable. hehe) Anyways, I’m not sure why I torture myself by looking at all the adoptable bunnies…haha. It’s an addiction too.

Congrats to you! My two pairs are not bonded because my male/female pair are brats individually and will attack my bonded brother pair. Whenever my boys get too close to the cage during their out time Marshmallow (the female) goes nuts trying to get at them. She digs and tries to bite through the bars…it’s really ugly. Attempting to bond those two pairs are an accident waiting to happen.

I probably would be able to bond my brother pair to the brother pair at the rescue….::wheels are spinning in my brain::

Jack is coming on Thursday! Just for a small visit to see Molly and Karl. Molly better be a good girl, but I’m sure she will. She just needs food and then she won’t care

The owner said that Jack only weighs 1 kg (2.2 lbs), but I think that was a rough guess ’cause Karl weighs 1.7 kg (3.7 lbs) and this bunny looks bigger.

I’m soooo excited. But let’s see if the owner is fine with me, and if Karl and Molly and Jack like each other. They better

Tarm, are you thinking of getting even more bunnies then??

Me? Nope. No more bunnies. Especially not the pair I was fostering that is attached to my 11 year old.

Don’t expect the visit to go too well. You’re bringing a strange bunny into the established domain of the home rabbits. They’ll try to route the intruder.

It’s been moved to Saturday morning. Now you are making me all nervous. Any suggestions on where to have the dates?

I’m thinking of using the kitchen and put a towel on the floor. Karl never goes into the kitchen because of the slippery flooring. Molly does do it sometimes to get treats, but it will only take a few seconds and then she is out again. So it is kind of neutral.

I might also just use a table?

We are moving into a new place Sunday. It should hopefully be of some help.

I woudn’t use a table, it’s too high if things get a little out of hand.
                                            Moving on Sunday? Great timing!
I would have the dates in the bathtub with a towel down.
Time to move this topic into the bonding section
