        Hello everyone!

I asked craigslist.org again for finding cheap good quality hay.

Someone is selling 35lbs bale of Orchard grass hay and Timothy hay (no alfalfa mix, yay!) but include 10 percent of treefoil.

I never heard treefoil before. What is that? Is that safe for my fur-friends?

          trefoil: according to Webster’s Dictionary:
1 a : clover 1; broadly : any of several leguminous herbs (as bird’s-foot trefoil) with leaves that have or appear to have three leaflets b : a trifoliolate leaf

don’t know if it’s OK. I haven’t heard of any problem with clover.

Oh.. I read somewhere that clovers are high calcium but 10 percent of it in bale which means it should be okay for rabbits to eat?

It should be fine, I looked it up and it was bunny safe. The bale I bought also had treefoil in it.

Bird’s Foot Trefoil in hay is usually the yellow bird’s foot, a forage legume. If it is present in your hay in small percentage it’s fine. Too much is bad, like flax, it contains cyanogen compounds. 10% should not be a problem. In fact, it also has anti-bloat properties. It grows everywhere where I live and I cannot get any hay that is completely free from it.

Oh really? I’ll order one to see if it is good quality and let my fur-friends try to eat it.
