The poor girl is probably just not spayed.  This makes me so angry!

For F’s sake!  Does this bun even have a chance?   I’m tempted to message Angelina (She has a bun named Moreland) to swoop in and get pick up this doe and deliver her to a rescue.  She’s from the area.  Not really fair though.  A shelter might euth her anyway.

          What to do?

I’m only a half hour away from Auburn, so I emailed the person who posted the ad asking if the bunny was still available. I hope she is, or that she by some amazing stroke of luck found someone ready to care for and love her the way someone should. Is she is, I’m going to try and take her myself.

Oh thank you! I was going to ask if you were.  Even if you cannot keep her, at least get her away from where she is currently and work with her. (That’s what I’d want to do if I could)

Exactally. At least at a shelter she would have a chance. How can people be so cruel? I like his, “I can’t bring to euthanize her myself.” Yeah, okay. So instead advertise for her to be caught and crushed by some huge snake. That’s so much better. I swear, have people not even HEARD of animal rescues?

Ugh! I’m up in Seattle usually once or twice a year and my sister is there most of the year for school. If I was up there I’d totally take her! Although she’d have to endure a long plane ride back to Hawaii… which is bad… Very small pink crock huh? Maybe she’s aggressive because she’s starving and needs more food!?

I do hope you or someone else can save this poor girl!

I do have to wonder if they are saying some of that to “get rid of her” faster.

This is exactly why I never read the pet listings on Craigslist. That and the fact that I cannot have any other rabbits. I think you become consumed with sadness and anger if you aren’t truly going to take the animals that are posted and that’s just not a good thing.

Very true Sarita! I just see the one’s people mention on this site and it’s enough to sadden me. I think it would be to easy to become overwhelmed if monitoring CL for these types of listings. It’s difficult to see and not be able to change. Especially things concerning children or animals. I sometimes will not watch things on TV because I know the detrimental affect it would have on me……..but then I just have to deal with the guilt of “putting my head in the sand” also. Ugh! I suppose balance is key.. & try make a difference where you can.

I also thought this ad may have been a tactic to get rid of faster……and just hope they wouldn’t actually give her away as food…hope…

Amandafaith90 – have you heard anything yet?

So, some good news, everyone. I emailed the person about the bunny, and he agreed to give her to me. My dad and I met him in a parking lot, and 5 minutes later I had a beautiful netherland dwarf doe in Bambi’s carrier. She’s currently in my bathroom.  I wanted to give her a night to relax and cool down before I drove her over to the humane society tomorrow morning. She isn’t aggressive in the slightest- I don’t know what that guy was talking about. She was terrified and a little skinny, but once she was settled down in the bathroom for a few minutes, she was eating lots of hay and seemed curious. I named her Thistle. I didn’t want her to go to the rescue without a name, I think that’s a cute one for a bunny. I would keep her, but she isn’t altered and after Bambi’s $200 surgery a few weeks ago, I can’t afford to get her done too.

She looks almost just like this bun, only a little smaller.

That’s great that you rescued this poor rabbit and he will be much better off at the humane society…I often wonder why people don’t consider taking their animals to the shelter – it’s sad but it’s not that bad and better than being in a home where they aren’t cared for.

She sounds beautiful and sweet and will certainly find a good home at the humane society – kudo’s to youl.

So I checked Thistle at the shelter today, and she is obviously doing much better. The volunteer  I spoke with said that she is almost at the weight she should be at, and that her spay is schedualed for next week.  I was so glad that she’s doing so well. The woman working there even told me that a man and his wife we interested in adopting Thistle after her surgery.  I’m not surprised. She sure is a cutie!

this is wonderful I wish there were more people like you in the world. To many pets are abused and ignored I swear if I was rich Id have so many pets. Then again that wouldn’t be fair either because there is only so much time in a day to give each affection.
