Today one of my rabbits (the one without all the issues) has been peeing very clear pee, and one with a slight slight slight tinge of red. Is this normal? He hasn’t been drinking any more water than usual…

(I noticed because he’s being difficult and peeing in front of my bedroom door. Pee shows up very well on hardwood >.> )

My rabbit’s pee is usually brownish. But if I over feed them carrots – their pee will have an orange-ish red tinge to it. Did you feed the little one alot of carrots lately? As soon as I cut back carrots, the pee returned to a normal color.

Normal bunny pee can range in color from clear, yellow, orange or red.  So it sounds like your rabbit is quite normal.   Oh dear about the hardwood floor.  As for the peeing problem, it sounds like he is expressing that he wants in your bedroom and is claiming that spot as “his.”  What have you done so far to prevent him from doing this?  Have you placed a litterbox in that spot?  I know it is a pain, but if you can’t correct him with a water bottle or clap of the hand or by herding him back to the litterbox, it may be something you need to do or block access to that area.

Here is more info on red urine:

You may also want to try putting a litterbox outside your bedroom door at the times that your bunny tends to pee outside your door. The pee color sounds normal to me as well I have 8 bunnies and 8 shades of pee.

Good to hear. =) I knew about the red urine, as my other bun’s had it a few times (and several shades), but never clear before!

And yep. He tends to pee from the inside of my room (he stays in my room if the other bun’s out) and he does have his litterbox right behind the door, actually. He’s only difficult when my other bunny comes to the door, and well, starts teasing his brother. So both buns tend to leave little puddles in defiance to the other. >.> They don’t do it at all unless the one that’s having free range of the house comes to the door and starts to hang out there instead. Trying to mark their territory, I suppose.

Man, I really need to make time to get them re-bonded. >.<
