        Hello everyone!

Recently in the news in my home-county, a 4-H leader was discovered to have a barn of nearly 30 rabbits, all without food and all severely neglected. The bunnies were seized by the local humane society and were just released to be able to find new homes. So everyone, if you’re in need of a bunny or know someone near southeast Wisconsin, about 20 minutes north of Milwaukee, please spread the word!

Here’s the link to the humane society’s page: Ozaukee County Humane Society The bunnies with asterisks are the rescued ones, but there’s a few others that need homes as well

If anyone’s interested, here’s the news story: “No Longer Held As Evidence”

I’m telling people I know, but I figured it may reach a larger audience if I share it here as well! Let’s try to get most if not all of these babies loving homes!

I often wonder about the fan fare about ” 4H ” as evidenced at our annual fair when rabbits are shown and then sold as meat ?!?!

Another story on here i read about 4H rabbits perishing and then replaced immediately by new ones..

To me these people still view them as ” animals ” and not the house pets they can be.

^I know, it’s so sad. I actually started off in this 4-H, and I remember one meeting we had a representative from Purina come in to explain that the only thing rabbits need to eat is their pellets! Not even hay!! I ended up getting Meketaten from my old 4-H breeder (not this woman mentioned in the story, thank goodness), who told me that she had a black Havana with a white nose that would disqualify her from being in shows, and she knows how I’ve always treated my “show rabbit”, Nefertari, before Meki like a house pet and was wondering if I would like to take her in. So I like to think that at least some of the leaders in 4-H truly do actually care about the well-being of their animals. The breeder I got Meki from made sure she found a loving forever home as a pet before taking any other measures.. not to mention she keeps all of her rabbits in her attached garage and brings in the littlest ones and nursing mothers to her home. Better than a dilapidated barn in Wisconsin winters!!

Hope they all find great forever homes where they are spoiled rotten. So glad the Humane Society got them out of there!
