My 4 month old Mini Lop, Brandy, is quite the personality, and has energy to match for sure. But what I didn’t know is that he might be a bit of a genius too. Somehow he keeps leaving his cage, and tonight would be the 4th time that he’s done so. We own an Oxbow cage with a play pen attached, and he keeps leaving; not by jumping over the play pen, but instead by somehow lifting the door of the cage to unhook from the playpen, and leaving through a small gap he squeezes through (perhaps I’ll have to post a photo for better understanding). I’m worried he’s going to get himself hurt by roaming around the house unsupervised as he’s typically done this at night, but I have no idea how to fix this… Should I just get a new cage? Although it gives him tons of space for when he’s not roaming around with my supervision. I have no idea what to do or how to stop this behaviour!

Can you use bulldog clips or cable ties to keep it shut?

When I was researching bunny housing the main negative thing that kept coming up in the reviews of that cage is that the play pen is too short. Even if you get clips to work for the current issue I would still be concerned of him learning he can hop over at some point.
