We are new bunny owners. We adopted Little Doll almost a year now. She is an adult, not sure how old and not sure what setting she lived in before.

I've been trying to litterbox train her. I used to keep her in a very large cage with mesh floor, and she peed anywhere she wanted.

Now she lives in an x-pen in our living room. I put 2 litterboxes filled with rabbit paper litter. She likes to sleep in her litterbox. When she sits in it she pees and poops there. But she will do the same in her cuddle cup or anything soft like blanket or folded towel that I put for her comfort. I followed advice of some members and removed Cuddle cup for few days but it didnt help. She will pee in anything soft. I am glad she at least doesnt pee on the x-pen mat.

The problem is that when she soils cuddle cup and sits in it her legs and tummy become soiled. It is better if she sits in the litter because it absorbs urine.

Should I just have 2-3 litterboxes filled with paper litter or paper bedding and let her sleep there. I feel bad to take cuddle cup away because she loves it

Any suggestions?

Did she have a litterbox in her cage or did she just go wherever she happened to be?  If there wasn't a box in her cage, she's used to going wherever so she's just doing what's "normal" for her.    You may have to take a step or two back and restart with her in her cage getting used to going in a particular spot (hopefully, the litterbox).  Take a look at the house-training info here on BB (if you haven't already checked out the "Bunny Info" section, do!  There's some *great* info available!).  You can find it here - Litterbox Training

I have some great tips for you. Make sure she is spayed it will really help. Also make sure you put some timothy hay in the litterbox Rabbits love to eat and go to the bathroom at the same time. When she is going to the bathroom in the litterbox make sure you praise her tell her she is such a good little girl. These tricks should work. I litterbox trained a rabbit and had no issues. I am now rabbit sitting and this rabbit is fixed yet and it poops more than normal outside the litterbox. So make sure you get her fixed! Hope this helps! Keep us posted! Also put the litterbox in her cage where she is peeing!
