  I have decided instead of buying a HUGE bun cage, I am going to build one
  
  I was just wondering where I can get rabbit safe wood. I know that redwood is toxic. Any others? And DEFINATLYNOT if the wood is stained.
  
  Whats safe and whats not? Any tips are very much appreciated!

  This was actually an issue that I had come across a few months back when my boyfriend and I were building our bunny her Taj Mahal of bunny cages. We used kiln dried pine. Mainly for costs reasons. Oak is also good. Just make sure it is not red oak. I had a list of woods that were safe. I’ll have to go search for it and come back to you. We ended up roughly basing our cage off of BudgetBunny’s design:

  This is what Skipper’s cage looks like now.
  
  We used two zip ties per square. Mainly because I’m a paranoid mama who didn’t want the structure to be weak.

  I copied the budget bunny design to! I think you know what my condo looks like already though I went to Menards for my wood. Lowes is OK to though!

  Great! I’ll check Budget Bunnny out. And btw, I love your youtube Mocha! You’re the reason Panda actually had a good life for the short time it was. Because you taught me about rabbits by me checking out your channel and watching your vids. Now look where I am today! I have 2 healthybuns, (you were also the one on introduce me to BB which saved all my buns lives btw), and I know much much more about bunnies now. Just thought I would thank you,! You also take amazing care of all your animals. Me and even my mom love your cats And we appreciate that you are so sweet!

  I couldn’t find my list. But I did remember that there is a wood, poplar, that is of better quality than pine and just a little bit more expensive. But at least you’re not spending the insane amounts on oak. I was planning to build Skipper’s cage out of poplar but it just didn’t seem dried out enough. I honestly wouldn’t get wood that looks green just to play it safe.

  I used untreated Pine from Lowes, and the cost wasn’t too bad. they had wood there that wasn’t green and didnt have any stains or chemicals on it. Be sure to specify that, the pressure treated wood that is water proofed has cyinid in it!!!! always double check with the sales rep and explain what you are using it for.
