My husband and I built this for our soon to be getting bunny

It has a wooden base, the cage is C&C panels with a second wooden level and the floors are lenolium.

Welcome! How big is your rabbit?

Ideally too you want your rabbit to be able to come and go on his/her own from the condo too so I think that the door needs to be at the bottom…is that something you can reconfigure?

Thanks guys! And there is no way of making the door on the bottom because the panels sit inside the wooden base.
But I dont see why my husband and I cant build a ramp ladder that goes from the inside to the outside, like in the shape of a upside down V..
do you know what I am saying?

And my bunny should be around 2 or 3 pounds full grown.

The cage is 4ft long by 2ft wide and has a second level of 2 ft long and about 1 1/2ft wide.

                Awesome, I loves it

My kennel used to have a 2nd floor and ramp also (I had to get the tray out from under to wash the bottom floor and I broke the second floor, BOOO) and my grandma (the CAT LOVER) saw the cage and I told her my bunny couldn’t get to the top floor (it was wood like yours).

Grandma and I went to petsmart and she picked out a flat cat scratcher and I tied it to the ramp and my bunny gripped it and went up the 2nd floor Thanks grandma

                Just an idea

I love it, It is soo cool

For the door, You could somehow cut an opening in a cube above the wooden frame and then use another cube piece to cover the hole and make it so it can swing open like a door. I have seen this done before and the reason you need two cube pieces to make a door is because when you cut the cube the piece left will have bars with nothing connecting the bars on the edge (sorry about my bad explanation).

FYI…going to move this to the habitat section.

I think you should considering reconstructing it in the future because it may not be big enough for a rabbit to stand on his hind legs and fully stretch and it would be best if he could go in and out on his own…not sure if the ramp from the top is a safe solution.

The middle part of the cage is 2 1/2ft high, thats plenty of space for a bunny to stand up on its hind legs to stretch..especially a 2 pound bunny..

                          just saying..

                          but thanks.

The smaller buns are the more active ones, so they need more space as compared to their body size. But, I see you are using NIC grids — they can always be added on

i think it looks great! as long as your bun get lots of exercise, it will be good until she grows ( unless she is a dwarf )

Looks neat! So easy to clean too. C&C’s cost much less than conventional cages and will be more versatile. You can always add to it easily with more grids when the time suits.

Be sure to post pics of the new bunny once it’s home.

Well my bunny should be 2 to 3 pounds tops so the cage should be great for now, but IF NEED BE, I will add on a 2ft by 2ft room to the side which will be made the same way with a wooden base, linoleum flooring and such and make that a hay room! which mean the top level will extend out that much more because it will go on that side. But that’s way down the line, I can do that any time soon, until I get into a house. My apartment is too little for that big of a cage, the cage already takes up half my living room LOL

Interesting condo! Can you saw away the part of the wood base at the bottom so the door can be moved down? I’m not sure how much the bunny will like having to go up and down a ramp to get into the cage, and if the cage isn’t easily accessible, that can hinder litterbox habits. At 2×4 feet, that cage is the minimum recommended size for a rabbit of any breed, so it’ll work for now, but you will probably want to expand upon that eventually. Another option, is to get an xpen to attach to the condo so the rabbit has a “yard” to go play in.

Great job! We’re getting our bunny next month, and are working on getting things ready, too. We’ve fallen out of bunny-proofing vigilance in the 3 years since our last one passed, so I’m going to have to go crawling around the family room to see how chewable things look from a rabbit’s perspective. It’s a little like it was when waiting for our children to born and getting the nursery ready! I think your cage looks great and you should be proud of how it turned out. How long til bun arrives?
