Holly cow!!!!!!!!!!!! I just cliped Cookie’s nails. (the front two paws only) I was so scared that i might clip the quick!!!!!!!! but when i got to the hind legs i saw that the quick was almost as long as the nail. so i was afraid that i might cut the quick so what should i do?

        HELP!!!!!!

No worries.  When the quick has grown to long, you can help it recede by just trimming the nail even slightly more often!   So, what you should do, it just trim the very very tip of the nail.   You’ll need to trim more often over the next few months (check the nail every couple of weeks to see if you’re able to trim – it may not need it until three weeks etc – each bunny is different)

The quick should begin to recede and then you can trim on a more normal timeline.

I have to do that  – I try to clip a little bit off Pepper every month or so.  It’s slowly helping but her back claws are still mostly quick.

will it be a bit painful when i cut it? cause the quick is so long.

Do not cut the quick.    Yes it will hurt.    Just clip the nail part, even if it’s just a tiny tiny part.  The quick isn’t grown all the way to the top right?  So even if it’s just a itty bitty clip of the nail part (not the pink part!)

Clipping the nail part, even just a tiny bit, will help the make the quick recede.  So clip just an itsy bitsy part of the tip of the nail only.  And then just keep checking every few weeks, and clip a bit if there’s enough nail to clip and leave a bit of nail too.

Can you take pictures of the nail and post them here?

That’s pretty much what Pepper’s looked like – they are slowly getting better.  It just means you have to clip less off more often for a while.

So i ditto what Wendyzski says.

Just an itsy bitsy clip more often will help it recede over time.

dont worry, mine doesnt handle it too well either so i have to hold her from behind with my finger under her chin and under her paws. she is kewl with her paws being held but she doesnt like that position too well becuase her belly is open but she will sit there for a little bit if i am quick however, not too quick or else she will get too scared and move violently. so i have another person holding her and covering her eyes or i do it and he (my boyfriend) cuts. =)
