I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Oren was my first rabbit and we have bonded pretty well. Then we got Calil, who is more Oren’s than mine. She tolerates me but still seems a little shy when he is not around. Well the other night I was on the floor Oren came over and I started to do the double cheek rubbing that he really likes, so he tries to become one with the floor and lays down. Calil comes up and starts to lick one side of his face. Well, I said ok and just rubs the other side. She stops looks at me and lunges at me. Is that bunny jealousy?? Does she not like me rubbing on her man?? Has anyone else had this issue??

Probably more territorial/behavioral….”jealously” is more of a human emotion, though I suppose dogs can get jealous as well.

my Hareiette gets very jealous about everything, so jealously can be there. I think your guess is correct – she is very territorial and wants to make sure you know that Oren is HER man. She was pretty clearly staking her claim. It might help to really work and try to strengthen your bond with her, so she doesn’t view you as competition for Oren.

It’s hard ot say exactly, but my guess is that she may think she’s the dominant bunny, and so in her bunny opinion you should not be rubbing him first (or maybe not at all), that you should be rubbing her as she may believe she is the queen here.  How dare you give attention to a lower ranked bun first.

Does she ever lunge you at all when you first approach her?
