I don’t know what is going on.. Lilly was an evil bunny, always biting and scratching, not wanting to be held.. and all the sudden beginning yesterday morning she is following around me and my dh.. circling our feet, and ourselves if we are sitting, laying next to us calmly, letting us pick her up.. what is going on.. its like all the sudden she became cute and sweet over night!!!

There is one thing that has become bad since her apparent sweetness began.. her litterbox habits have sharply decreased!!  She used to 100% pee in the litterbox, and 2 times in the last 12 hours I have cleaned up bunny pee from RIGHT NEXT to the litterbox.. and she has been pooping EVERYWHERE!!!

What is going on with my bunny!?

oh PS.. she is getting spayed on friday.. is this perhaps hormonal?  or has she finally become "bonded" per se to us?

That girl bunny is in loooooove and wants to mate, that’s why they circle your feet. You will notice a personality change after the spay. My bunny because even more docile than she was and thank god the hormones were gone. It sounds like she is marknig her territory with the pooping EVERYWHERE (sorry Amanda, couldn’t resist) and the peeing right next to her litterbox. Have you had any other animals around her lately?!? If they can small them, even on you, they’ll start marking.

Yep!  Peeing, circling, becoming territorial – sounds like bunny puberty to me.  These should calm down a bit after she is spayed.

Oh yeah, the adolescent poopfest.  It’s true about whether they smell other animals on you too.  I spent a weekend dogsitting at a friend’s place and when I got home couldn’t wait for some bunny cuddles.  Sable had a poopfest right in my lap!!  Of course, that could have been a punitive "Where have you been?" kind of poop pile too   Needless to say, I’ve been careful to change into more familiar clothes before cuddling on returning from trips just in case.

I’ll echo what everyone else sais… bunny puberty! glad you have an appointment set to have her spayed 🙂
Once she’s spayed she should cut down on the circling and marking everywhere with poop!

Lillybear, I am pretty much going through the same thing with a Holland Mini Lop. He is also a Male….when he is upstairs he will use the litterbox and pee just to mark he is a brat. He poops anywhere and everywhere he wants and also isn’t nuetered yet, acually one day my brother was hanging on to him and all of a sudden he runs up stairs with shadow and says what are these well i guess his you know whats finally dropped or something. hahaha but he is also getting nuertered soon. But he doesn’t seem to have really bad mood swings. weird

How old was she when she was spayed?  When you say bad, do you mean in marking only, or in behavior – like biting, lunging, grunting etc?

Do you have other animals at your place?
