I need to get Twig neutered because he is about 6 months old but I am worried because he is only about 1.5 pounds. Is it safe to get such a small rabbit fixed? Also would it be better to wait until it gets cooler out before taking him since my dad’s truck does not have air conditioning and it is going to be at least a 30 minute drive?

Well, my girl Monkey got spayed at less than 1.5 pounds So I should think a boy getting neutered would be easier than that. She came through just fine, if a bit grumpy about it

I don’t think the size really matters as long as you have a rabbit experienced vet. I would wait until it’s cooler if you don’t have a/c. Your bunny will be stressed and you don’t want to add the heat to that as well.

As long as the vet is experienced, that’s the most important. Bobby who is about 1.5 pounds was neutered successfully. He was probably only 1 pound when he was neutered as he was underweight and in poor condition due to dental problems.

yup no problem My Noot had been neutered and he was less than 2lbs. Kahlua is right about 2 lbs and her spay was no big deal you might wait until September for the neuter if it’s really hot where you are, but I don’t think there is any issue if you can comfortably ride in the truck.

Your bunny is so cute that I want to bunny nap him!

I’d wait since the car doesn’t have air conditioning.  Driving can stress some rabbits out, so you don’t want stress induced breathing issues.  Yes send them together.  For bonded buns, you should try to keep them together as often as you can.  Anytime one goes to the vet, I bring the other.  Most practices, that frequently deal w/ bunnies know that you will keep them together.  Once in the emergency room, my bun had to go into the O2 cage and his g/f was w/ him the whole time.
