So i have this bunny,, hehe,

        and he is soo  cute.

when i got him, he was itty bitty…

        And now…

Well hes 6 months old and almost bigger than my bigest bunny, who is 6 years…

For those who hasnt read my intro, Furbie is a Fuzzy lop  (i think he resembles a mini lop)

But i just wanted to know, for anyone who has one, how big will he get.. im not worried about how big he is going to get, he’ll always have a home, but i just want to know how big hes getting so i know how big of a condo he’s going to need..

Also i want to know if theres any medical issues that are comon in these breeds (ive never had a lop so i dont know much about the ears and whatnot..)

        THANKS

What a cutie! I don’t know anything about that breed, though, sorry.

Haven’t heard from you in a while. Do you still have Hershey and Twix?

Hey I have a mini lop but I’m not sure about any medical issues specific to the breed. I’ve never had any problems with her ears and I don’t think it’s that common because I’ve not heard of many issues. With most mini lops (holland lops us) and dwarf lops (mini lops us) I think they reach pretty much their adult size at about 6 or 7 months and if they grow any past that it is mostly just filling out rather than getting bigger. As you said though, he’s a fuzzy so this might not apply.

              He’s very sweet!

The fuzzy lop was bred from the holland, so they have the same general body size and type as hollands and weigh 2-4lbs.

Is the bun pictured your bun? He doesn’t have the fuzzy lop coat, so he may be bred as a fuzzy lop, but without the fuzzy coat it’s impossible to tell if he’s genetically a fuzzy or is a regular holland.

He could be a mini lop – they grow 5-7lbs – but that color is generally much more common in hollands and his face looks holland to me.

I have two lops and haven’t seen any differences in health over other rabbits. Some people do experience ear infections, but neither of mine have had that problem. Others report teeth problems, but that’s due to the face shape which they share with other small breeds, so it’s not just a lop thing.

My holland reached his full weight by 5/6 months.

My bun Smudge was a Fuzzy lop (her vet did thing she had some angora in her but we never knew for sure) and she was about 5.5lbs full grown. I did notice that compared to other lops she had a very long body (not sure if that’s the breed or just her own body type) but it always made her seem larger than she was… and the hair she had a mop of hair that nearly doubled her actual size just because of it’s volume.

Our current boy, Toby, is a holland lop.  He’s in the 4 lb range.  He’s VERY furry & sometimes needs help w/ his bottom b/c his hair gets so long.  Our beloved Chewbacca was a mini lop and she was nearly 8 lbs.  Her face was much darker than Toby’s, but both are extremely fast runners.  Though they look very funny when they run b/c they are so fuzzy.  Chewbacca was a major chewer, which I hear is common in minis, though she had an amazing personality & was the ultimate in fearlessness.  Toby is more tentative than Chewy, guess b/c he’s smaller & is bonded w/ a neurotic netherland.  I believe you should watch their ears b/c they can get cruddy on the tips for hanging on the floor.  We’ve had significant health probs w/ Toby, he’s earned EVERY PENNY of his insurance (corneal ulcer & sebatious adentitis).  I have also found w/ both increased cecals, he can’t have treats as often as the netherland & same was w/ Chewy.

                  Enjoy your bun, he’s ADORABLE!

I dont know about you guys’s lops (holland , mini or fuzzy) but furbies isnt very thick (but its summer) but its verys soft and rather long. He only weighs id say 3 pounds tops but he looks like he should weigh about 6.. his fur is very light but softer from any of my other bunnies fur.

I love his colours, but im no sure what its called….

LTP i wrote a welcome, I still have the girls, and twix ended up getting pregnant, so i have her babies untill i find good homes for them, im not giving them to just anybody.. And under a no breeding contract aswell.
                    *lots of pictures**

                    Elrohwen!!
How did your bonding with Hannah go? I dont think i saw the end results..

MirBear, Otto and Hannah have been bonded for a while now 🙂 She’s bossy as ever, but they love being together.

If the picture you posted is a picture of him, the color is blue tort (the dilute form of black tort). HIs fur looks like normal holland hair, but maybe I can’t see it well in the picture. Otto is a holland and his hair is longer and softer than Hannah’s (a mini lop) but it’s normal for hollands (he’s not a fuzzy).

I believe I have a holland lop (she came from a pet store) so we’re not 100% sure. Knowing the breeders who give the pet shop the buns, she’s some kind of mix. Skipper is about 4lbs. I do know that the vet warned us to check her ears for infection (redness) or a waxy build up because it can be hard for her to clean her ears and to just clean the way build up with a Qtip. I have the same problem with Skipper that Sunklionshow has with her Toby. =p Skipper’s bottom hair gets really long so we have to trim it sometimes to make sure poo doesn’t get stuck. I have heard that lops are prone to teeth issues. I honestly don’t know the validity of the statement. I chalk it up to that any rabbit no matter the breed can have teeth issues. So I just make sure to give my bun tons of hay. (But I’m sure you already know this since you have other buns. ;] )
