Foudini had to be put down this morning. He reinjured an injury playing in the paddock that he got back when he was a race horse. Over two weeks of no improvment and getting worse the vet said he was suffering too much. Last night he had laid down and wouldn’t get up today and was shaking from pain. Foudini came to me with a cracked hoof and rot. His ribs were showing because his previous owner didn’t feed him anything but the grass that was in his paddock. When I first started riding him he had a clamp on his hoof and was a struggle just to keep trotting. Months later it was a struggle to keep him from galloping all the time. He was sweet and lovable and a bit spirited at times. I feel so horrible and sad and guilty. I have been crying off and on all day. I really hope he had a nice life while he was with me.

Oh hugs, I’m so sorry. I know he had a nice life with you…he was lucky to have someone who cared so deeply for him and took good care of him.

I’m so very sorry to hear about Foudini. You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty. When a horse is in the state that Foudini was in, it’s the only kind choice to let them go. **Hugs to you** Spend lots of time with Prim, she will help heal your pain.

            Somewhere…somewhere in time’s own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
            Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

Oh, Bunnyfriend! I’m so sorry for your loss, but you have nothing to feel guilty about! You did all you could do and let him know someone loved and cared about him–you gave him a tremendous gift. Don’t ever forget about that. Gallop free, Foudini.

Oh I am so sorry You took him from a horrible place and gave him all the care you could, I am sure he appreciated it and the final kindness you gave him was to be selfless and end his suffering – there is no reason to feel guilty. *hugs*

Don’t feel guilty-you rescued him and gave him comfort and love, and in the end you gave him release and a goodbye when he needed it. He was lucky to have you to care for him, so many don’t. *hugs* He’s galloping at the bridge
