  So, cuddling with Sophie this past weekend, he head right near mine, I heard what seemed to be a stuffy nose. She was breathing heavy through her nose. There was no mucus, nose dry, so I don’t think she’s sick. She’s not acting any different…. I am hoping it’s just the dry air in my apartment and that the humidifier I just bought for me will help her! Any ideas?

  We have 3 buns, a havana, a polish dwarf and a rex. The rex sounds different from the other two when she is breathing. She is the only one of the three that you can actually hear breathing if you are petting her, it is almost like a slight whistle whe she breathes. She has a very pointy snout, and my theory is that her head is shaped slightly differently so the sound is different. She also makes a little "squeak" when she sips water.
  
  Is this sound new? COuld she have been making it all long and you are only noticing it now? Central heat in the winter really dries out the air, maybe the humidifier will help.

  Oh, I should mention that when bunnies are having real trouble breathing, they point thier noses up in the air to let gravity help them get air into thier lungs. If you ever see a bun doing this, it is an emergency,

  She’s also breathed a little heavy, but I did hear the squeak noise and I haven’t heard it before. I am thinking it’s the central heat and have the humidifier plugged in now, so I am hoping that helps the situation. I know my nose has been a little dry lately, so….

  Some bunnies are just made up this way, and the noise is heard more when they are fully relaxed or excited, but it’s not often that rabbits have this issue, and since this is new to Sophie, I would keep a careful eye on her, and if it doesn’t get better soon, then check with a vet.
