Hiii everyone. I’m a new mommy for 2 male rabbits they are both 1 yrs old and i just got them a couple of hours ago !! I forgot to ask the previous owner about their feeding schedule and as soon as they got here i gave them food (pellets and romain lettuce) and all of it was almost gone so i added more pellets and some pieces of  carrots and  now that’s gone 2 so i added more pellets. And now there is rarely any pellets left !! If i keep doing this then I’ll end up bankrupt lol, i don’t want to overfeed them so what feeding schedule do u guys use and recommend

I would give as much hay as possible. Veggies go about a cup for three lbs of bunny. Feeding guidelines for amounts and recommended veggies are here https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/2/PID/940/Default.aspx
Pellets can be given limited and it’s often recommended to give a fixed small amount. I free feed them, and mine eat very little; but it sounds like your boys will eat until they get a tummy ache! So leave the pellets and feed according to guidelines https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/2/PID/940/Default.aspx -you can free feed hay and they should have hay and water available at all times. AT one they should be eating grass hay (Timothy, brome, orchard, anything but alfalfa).

Welcome!! Are your boys neutered already? Did they have a regular vet you can continue seeing, or do you need to pick someone out? I’d love to see pictures They are our bread and butter here on Binkybunny

Hey when i click the links they are expired and also when i copy and paste them. I know that the dominate boy Wisdom is neutered but we are not sure about the other 1 Shadow, so when they start to trust me i will have to check down there lol. Where i live there is very limited shelters and vet clinics so i don’t have a vet :/ and i don’t think the previous owner took them to the vet often. I will be uploading pics soon but they look just like twins !!! I dont even know which is which yet and thanks

I give my rabbits about 1/4 cup each of pellets per day. They are both around 5 pounds, and that is the suggested amount to give them. I do split the amount into two feedings, one early evening and one late evening. Their hay is replenished throughout the day, and they are never without it. I give them Timothy, orchard grass, meadow hay and botanical hay. Instead of one or two big mixed salads a day, I give them individual veggies throughout the day, since I work at home and I’m able to do that. They also get a little bit of fruit each day.

Here is one of the suggested rabbit diets, showing the good veggies and fruits:

                    http://rabbit.org/care/veggies.html

The veggies I most often feed to my rabbits are kale, parsley, cilantro, romaine lettuce, green and red leaf lettuce, carrots and carrot tops, dandelion greens, broccoli, arugula, radicchio. I’m sure I’m forgetting some. They don’t get all of those every day, but they do get 4 or 5 different veggies a day. A rabbit should get around 2 cups (or more) of veggies a day.

Carrots have a lot of sugar, so they should be treated as fruit, and given in smaller quantities.

Fruit should be given sparingly and in small quantities, due to the high sugar content. The fruit I most often give is apple. They also may get some banana, pear. raisins, or grapes (seedless, and I split the grape and take out the little pips of the seedless ones).
