Lolli is in the basement in my old room.  The basement is finished as it’s where the main tv has always been.  The room is carpeted but it’s just carpeting over concrete – no padding.  And her pen area is her 4×8 area rug.  So it’s sort of two layers.  But it’s getting colder now.  And now I’m worried because I got her to snuggle today and she didn’t act cold, but her ears were like popsicles.  Ok, maybe not THAT cold but I have never felt them that cold to the touch before.  When I got her, she was napping if that’s makes any difference.

So how do I tell if she’s cold?

There is a wood stove in the basement and as soon as my dad starts  starts building fires, it will be warmer down there.  But until that happens, what can I do if she’s cold?

If it’s comfy enough for you to go down there, she is fine

Well I have to use blankets to keep me warm. LOL But ok, I won’t worry about her being cold.

Rabbits can handle cold better than we can, they have a built in fur coat Once it gets cold enough for your dad to start up the fireplace, she’ll be nice and toasty. I wouldn’t worry unless her water is getting too frosty

Her water is not even the least bit frosty. LOL

I keep my apartment 55 – 60 degrees and when the heater is on very low, my buns nestle on the fleece blankies I have in their pens for them. Petie’s blankie is on a fleece bolster bed and he alternates between savoring his reflected body warmth on the fleece and stretching out on the cool linoleum. So does Dustor. So if your bunny won’t ingest it, you might offer her a scrap of fleece or fleece bed or both to snuggle on if it’s really cold. BB Store I think has them. But she’ll probably be okay without it too.

When my room gets chilly, I give the bun extra blankets. My room is the coldest in the house, so I have extra fleece ready for them and my small rodents.

She has a fleece blanket over her box. When we were in the apartment, I would sometimes find her laying in it as it was draped over the back of the box. I also gave her the towel that goes in her carrier. So if she gets cold, she has things available to get her warm. And I will quit worrying. LOL
