I’d like to know if rabbits can have corn husks like guinea pigs can?

I knew corn is to be avoided but not much about the husks. It does seem like a good source of fibre, however…..
I did read this just now from allexperts.com

Hi- Can my bunnies eat the green “husk” leaf material off of corn on the cob? Or is it bad for them?
          Thanks!!!!
          Answer –
          Dear Theresa,

I would not give them corn husks for two reasons. First, they are very stringy, and hard to chew. Since I know of bunnies who have gotten the strings of celery caught on their teeth and caused serious problems, I would think the same thing might happen with corn husks.

Second, corn husks, unless they’re from organically grown corn, are loaded with pesticides. I just wouldn’t feed them to my bunnies when there are so many other good things to feed them:

          Hope this helps!

          Dana

Dana Krempels is extremely knowlegeble on rabbits (house rabbits) so I always heed her advice. The site also cited from another ‘expert’ that both corn and husk were fine but this was from a breeder/meat rabbit farmer who has different interest in rabbit care.

So I’ll leave that with you Me, I would avoid giving it.

Oh, and the guinea pig cage making site says that corn husks are very dangerous for guinea pigs as if they eat them and then drink water they can expand in their stomachs and cause a blockage.

On the other hand that was for corn husk bedding, so take it how you will.
