We went away for seven days for vacation to the Dominican republic and I brought her to the place that I purchased her because they also have a bunny daycare there . we’ve had her so well trained! she was coming to us, following us around , she would go in the cage when we lured her with a treat.now she doesn’t do any of that anymore ! it’s like she forgot I us! we can’t lure her into her cage anymore with a treat. before it was so easy. she runs away now when we try to pet her . I’m so upset ! I feel like we have to start all over again ! I didn’t think bunnies would forget so soon! I don’t know what to do ! am I going to be able to build up her trust again ? maybe she’s mad that we left her the kids are so bummed

What a shame. I don’t think she’s forgotten, more like making you pay for not taking her to the DR with you !!!!

I’m sure you will be able to build up her trust yes ! She prob didn’t have the handling that you got her used to and is maybe a bit spooked from the experience. Give her a couple of days without (forced) petting and she’ll no doubt come to you… keep in her presence and she’ll remember soon enough where the treats are… how old is she again, maybe she’s going through teenage rebel years.

She’s 10 months old,I was thinking the same thing maybe they didn’t give her love and snacks and cuddles like we did

I’m sure she will come around. She just needs to get back into the routine (of being spoiled!)

The longest I was ever away from my bunnies was 8 days, my current Bindi and my little Bridge bun, Stormy, I thought they would be so excited to see me when I got back. They weren’t. They pretty much ignored me. It’s what’s called “Getting the Bunny Butt”.

So just look forward to in about 4-5 months (!! ) when she will be the soppiest, cuddliest, lovingy-iest (?) bunny EVER !!!
You just have to be a little patient…

(Make sure she ‘s eating and pooping fine if she’s going into surgery shortly after you are back from hols….)

Give her time, I’m sure it’s just temper! Amelia tries to be mad at me when I get home from a trip with out her. I say try since it’s only bout 15 minutes before she is smothering me with kisses. But they do get mad and hold grudges, jut keep spoiling her and she will give in

Thanks guys. She won’t go back in her cage anymore it’s a fight every time. It used to be so easy, and then she gets stressed out and she’s shaking once we get her back in! ?But when I got home from work she came near me in her cage and I gave her hugs and kisses and she was grinding her teeth. That’s a good sign I think

Yes, tooth purring is a good sign. It’ll just take time to get your normal routine back on track. Buns love routine- she’s probably just thrown off and adjusted to this new routine and needs to remember the old one. She will come around and it’ll be okay!!
