Hi everyone, I’ve recently noticed Charlie, my bunny, peeing in a reddish color and I’m super worried! I’ve read that it’s common for their pee to change color from light yellow to red but Charlie’s look very dark. The picture is gross sorry :/

That looks pretty normal to me. Kale, spinach, broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes, cranberries, etc can all cause colouring that dark in bun pee

I can’t see the photo, but dark urine is pretty common in buns. My rabbit generally has a dark orange-ish colored urine, and the vets say that that is perfectly fine.

I agree, many plants can result in red/dark orange pee, as can antibiotics – and aside from all that, bunnies can spontaneously produce red/dark orange pee.

You can test if it’s blood by dripping hydrogen peroxide on it, if it’s blood it foams A LOT. But blood in the urine is more often seen as specks, not as uniformly red pee.

Vienna, I do the same thing Tomorrow our American friends will be writing posts in February

No way! It makes so much more sense that dates be written from shortest interval (day) to longest (year) and temps measured in base ten. Pffff

Wrong it makes sense to have the month were in and then the day. If you have the day first, how will you know what month it is ????

It took me about 6 years to remember to write the month before the day on the first try, after I moved to the U.S. Also, it doesn’t make sense that dimes are smaller than nickels. America, help a “tourist” out! I kept staring at them for ages in the beginning because I couldn’t remember which was which. I still have the celcius setting on my phone. I can’t feel F. But I can feel C.

                            Well… I have one for you…

The month stays the same for about 30 days, so you already know what month you are in. The variable is the day, so that should come first, because you really want to know what day it is!

                              Fixed the pic for you

The urine colour looks fine to me, as others have mentioned pee can frequently change colour from diet and other factors. Also, the placement of the poops on the pee stain makes me think it looks like an elephant, lol. I’m also wondering about the white area of pee, is it sludgey?

@L4B, I’m with you on the nickles being bigger than dimes, makes no sense and I had so much trouble with it, constantly getting them backwards.

The answer to that is actually fairly complicated. Originally, they made coins out of silver and size was determined by the amount of silver. A quarter, for example, was made of 25 cents worth of silver. Well, but the time they got down to nickels, it was decided they were too small in size to be practical (pesky little things kept getting lost). So they chose to make nickels out of a less expensive metal. The size follows the same principal, the nickel was made of 5 cents worth of copper which happened to be larger than 10 cents worth of silver. Now, all coins are made of alloys (value of the metal does not match the coin). They kept the coins the same sizes, I assume, to avoid confusion.

Little known fact: Smooth edges meant a “base” metal and ridged edges meant a precious metal. That’s why pennies and nickels have smooth edges.

I did not know that. So cool!
