When I adopted Snickers, I was advised she was overweight, due to being fed a diet of muesli by her previous owner. She was also scared stiff of everything and healing from several bites, and was generally in quite a bad way. He spine seems slightly curved to the side, so I wonder if she was kept in too small a cage to stretch out at some point when she was still growing

She has now been with us for 11-12 weeks. I haven’t put her on a weight loss diet as such, just put her on the same healthy diet as everybunny else and plenty of floor time. At first she was too scared to come out for floor time, but she is making better use of the time now, though unlike Podge, so far she hasn’t attempted the stairs.

You can finally see the beginnings of a nice tum-line in this picture

She loves her hay and nose bumps me in the mornings to hurry up with the day’s fresh supplies

She and mini were adopted as a bonded pair, with the pet shop making it clear they wanted her staying with Mini as he was the only thing that calmed her down at all, and she needed him. However, it soon became clear they weren’t properly bonded, as they were constantly chasing and circling and nipping each other. After a temporary time as a threesome, with the benefit of Pippi’s calming effect, Snickers and Mini are finally happily bonded, and Pippi is happily back with Jenny.

I love the entwined back paws in this picture, and how relaxed she is staring to look

And how she is starting to feel safe around me  ‘What did you bring me back from the market, mum?’

Awww Yay for good homes and healthy bunnies!! I love the entwined feet too. So cute!

Are you noticing any change to her spine since she’s toning up at all?

The spine is still noticeably different to feel, compared to everybun else’s. I’m hoping that over time it will improve, though given her appetite, it doesn’t cause her any pain or significant discomfort. She does seem to lie at full stretch a lot, so maybe that is her doing what her spine needs? Its really only the past couple of weeks she’s started making more than a brief nosy out during floor time, and hopefully she will continue to gain confidence to explore. Mini has been binkying and running bunny 500’s for weeks, Snickers hasn’t done either so far, but hopefully some time soon she will.

Getting her through her current moult is number one goal for now. I’ve had to order in more barley rings to bribe her to let me groom her. Hopefully they will be delivered tonight. They come from the local firm I get my hay from. They also sell dried grass, which she loves, though she loves her hay too, and its just basic meadow hay I get. So somehow I doubt she got too much hay or grass before she came here either, given she sees both as treat foods. So I’ve two 10 kg bales of hay and 5 bags of dried grass coming too

That’s awesome that she loves the hay and grasses so much. Barley rings sound intriguing. Should my bunnies be jealous?

                Yep, they should

Barley rings are sold as cheap, high calorie food for horses, making them ideal for rabbits as a treat/bribe food. I first got them for Gina and Jenny, who you may remember were both underweight and undernourished. They helped both girls gain nice healthy weight. They are also very crunchy, and so make a great way of monitoring for teeth issues developing!

The rings are about 2 cm across, and apparently taste wonderful, all buns and piggies agree. so good that even the dreaded grooming brush can be forgiven

                      Snickers is beautiful.

I am glad that she loves her hay. Some bunnies seem to know what they need when given the right options.

Odette likes barley type treats. I’ll have to check out the barley rings.

So nice to see her bonded properly with Mini too. Good job, Pippi!

You can order hay from the U.K., Vienna. Burn’s green oat hay is a favorite with Bam and it was with Yohio too. I order from VetUK, but there is another British web shop called The Hay Experts, the have (wait for it…) hay. Lots of different types and brands.

Just ‘special’ I think  how anyone could give her up as ‘the wrong pet for them’ is beyond me…

That colouring always reminds me of Cookie Dough Ice Cream!

lol, her colour is broken tricolour.

I’m so very glad that she is improving and starting to come out of her shell. Little bit by little bit she will get there
