So I just got a new rabbit, shes a silver fox. She is about 2 and a half months old. And she is doing really well with pooping in her litter box, but she seems to love peeing on my bed every hour and it is very, very frustrating. I dont have the time or money to be washing my blankets every hour and I dont like keeping her in a cage because it seems cruel to me. What should I do? I dont know how to punish her other than tell her no and raise my voice. When I do punish her I feel really bad. What should I do? How do I keep her from peeing on my bed? and how do I punish her when she does???

Any comment and advice are much appriciated.

Bunnies LOVE peeing on beds-I think they are marking them as ‘their territory’ and it’s comfy so they like it. You’ll have to not allow her on there at all. Put a shower curtain (a plastic type one-it will protect against pee and they don’t like the feel) and cover your bed with it. Give that a try-should keep her off of it.

          And Welcome!

Is that the only room she can go in? I have one bunny proof room, the rest they hop into under supervision. You’ll learn lots of little tricks so your bunny can be out and about without too much concern. Shielding cables with plastic tubes. Blocking off places with cardboard cut to size or mdf, distracting them with toys to stop them chewing things they shouldn’t. Really if I’m honest, the bunnies are happy with the living room, I’m lucky it’s a good size, and they never go in my bedroom. It is saturated with your smell, and they want to add their smell!!

I agree, it’s best to not allow them on beds or couches at all if they are having a problem with marking. The shower curtain is a great idea. Or you can block the bed off with NIC grids or an xpen.

Thank you so much for the advice. =) It really helps. I love her but it is rather irritating having to keep her blocked off from everything in the house.lol

She is young and is or soon will be reaching sexual maturity and so this may get even more challenging. Do you have an xpen? These are great to allow for more exercise while she is being limited.    And then when she’s running around exploring outside of her cage and/or pen, then you will need to supervise. Do you plan on spaying her? If so, that will help later on. But for now, because of her young age, like a puppy who will chew up stuff and pee in the wrong places, you will have to allow supervised time outs only. She also needs to understand where “her territory is” and know that is separate from the “general territory”. Again, that’s why pens can come in handy too.
