Bunny digging and biting me

Lilly will just hop up on the bed sometimes and start digging at me (my skin, clothing) and then she will start biting the area she was digging.. now this would be okay if it wasn’t sometimes my skin – bunny nails and teeth hurt!!  She also does this to the bed, pillows, things left on the floor.. and that I expect.. but when she is doing it to me, I dont know what is going on!  Like today I literally was just sitting in bed and she hops up (I thought maybe I would get a little affection??? yeah right!) and starts doing it!  It scares me sometimes because she is so mean, and if you stop her while she is doing it she will growl really loud and lash out with her nails/teeth.  so why does she do it!?  I didn’t do anything to make her mad!

Have you tried pushing her head down gently, or "thumping" and turning your back on her?  These are rabbit-ese for "I’m dominant" and "you’re not worth my attention".  They worked really when when Pepper first came to live with me – she was kind of insecure and bitey and this let her know what was up in terms that she could understand.  The first time I turned my back on her (harrumph) she stared at me, and then sort of put her head down as if to say "oops – sorry".

Oops I am an idiot and initially put the wrong reply into the wrong box.. thats what I get for having multiple binkybunny tabs up at once!! 

Thank you!! I am going to try that.. I hope it works as well as it worked on your bun.. I think it would be funny to see Lilly get upset because I am mad at her – she thinks she is all that!! haha.  I will let you know how it goes : )

This happens with Sophie too. She’s trying to “Alpha Bunny” me and I won’t let her. She scratches my chest while I am laying there reading. I think it’s because she gets mad that I am not paying attention to her.

my bunny did that to me a couple of days ago. i now have a scap as big as the word “that” under my left boob. and a hole in the shape of teeth… – -” i put her on timeout on my lap with no pets for 5 min but at first i put my hand over her head. she tried to give me that i am sorry puss and boots look…. tempting but not going to work on mommy…. why do they do that though?

mochi….. with the digging and the nipping but emo will nip only thinking my shirt is her blankie…. – -” neither purposely nips me so i dont blame them but ouch it hurts…. – -“

My Rabbit will jump on my lap and start digging on me and nipping. I’ve tried pushing her head down for dominance and turning my back but nothing seems to work. She also thumps if you put her on the floor after she does this. She is a three year old mini lop.
