i’ve been waiting for ever to post this! BB wasn’t working, then i left for the weekend….

Petco is teaming up  w/ the MN house rabbit society…instead of selling breeding rabbits they are ‘selling’ rabbits from shelters!!!

Way cool right?! They’ve had a lot of success. If you live in MN, you should volunteer. It’s 2 hours per week, on a specific day. All you do is socialize with the bunny. I’m the lead at the Woodbury Petco. The Kansas Rabbit society is scoping out doing the same program. Hopefully it’ll spread.

Hmmm…I should copy this link on a piece of paper and drop a few hundred leaflets at my local PETCO. They seem to have no clue about how obscene it is to sell bunnies in cramped little tanks instead of being an adoption service.

I know, right, Mimzmum?! Seems so simple and—DUH!

Erbear, i’m in marshall, mn. There’s no petco’s around here otherwise i would love to! it would be so much fun!

Now you just need to get them to build a petco… somehow that seems easier than getting the other ones to work with a rescue. Actually the managers and employees do a really great job because they love animals just like we do. They just get jaded by being required to sell animals to people who want don’t know how to take care of them….

                  That’s great news!!!!

I went to my local Pets Unlimited about a week ago and there were dozens of baby rabbits. Even some in crates at the back of the store in the area where they store the big bags of pet food. They were having a “sale” on rabbits. It sickens me. An animal is not an object, they shouldn’t be “on sale” like a pair of shoes.

My local PETCO still has rabbits. Unlike the manager told me, they are not stopping the sale of rabbits “because it’s too cold this time of year to ship them.” My guess is, they’re taking surprise litters from locals. I have no idea how that could be protested and stopped. If so, what would happen to these litters? (We all know.)

I wish I knew what could be done to put a stop to their more ridiculous policies. I am getting closer to starting either a rescue of my own or at least finding a way to launch a website or a local chapter of the HRS.

If I had the funds I would definetly start a rescue. We need one in the atlantic provinces badly. I’m also going to start a website for rabbit advocates like myself re: anti fur, pet stores and the like. Just gotta find the time.
