Hello. My name is Kat. I have 3 wonderful bunnies, Luxa, Momiji, and Eurydice. They are wonderful pets and I would like for them to become house bunnies when our space will allow it hopefully sometime soon. Right now our home is too small to safely bunny proof rooms for them to play in but we are working to change that. They are however, indoor bunnies who live in a cage in our pet room and are  allowed to roam under supervision. They are not yet litterbox trained or anything of the sort. I know they and I are not quite ready for "house rabbit" status yet but that is my ultimate goal. I’ve recently started researching it because I want to know what I’m getting myself into before I attempt it. If anyone has any advice or resources I should check out, I’d be much obliged. Thank you!

          Awww – so pretty!

          Hi Kat!

There is a lot of good info on this site, and the people here are really great about answering questions.  With so many experiences bunny folks in one place, chances are that SOMEONE will have had the exact same issue come up.

http://www.rabbit.org is also a great place for info, and they have a list of bunny-saavy vets too.

          Welcome aboard!

welcome Kat! I have three bunnies too. Have you taken a look through the bunny info section of this site? There is lots of great information. Rabbit.org (as wendyzski recommended too) is also a fantastic resource.

Welcome Kat!    Your bunnies are adorable!  I am so glad you are preparing prior to just letting your buns have freedom.  That’s when bad habits can set in, and habits can be hard to break.

For house proofing, check out the rabbit proofing section.  We have really tried to cover as much as we could think of, and members have added even more tips there!

The biggest tip I can give regarding litter training is spay and neuter.   This can make a big difference, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to train.  So the next biggest tip is to not allow too much freedom too fast.  X-pens come in handy when you’re trying to slowly expand.  Check out the litter training section.

Also, check out the links section for other websites that may be helpful.

Thank you everyone! I haven’t had a chance to check out the links yet, but I plan to soon. Yes, they are 3 different bunnies. I believe they may be siblings. They are related at any rate. My new husband’s mother used to breed them. No records were kept as they were feeder bunnies (my husband used to have a huge python when he was younger). Now that the snake is gone, she keeps the bunnies around and breeding for the fertilizer (she loves gardening). They aren’t really abused but they aren’t well cared for either. My 3 were given to me by my husband and his mom. First it was just Luxa but then Momiji stole my heart too and Eurydice was Momiji’s cagemate so they both came in with me. Now they and Luxa happily share a cage in our pet room. We have a ton of other pets as well all very loved and happy. I’d list them all but it would take forever so I’ll post a link to my site instead if that’s ok. It needs to be updated again. We lost a few and gained a few since the last update. It’s http://www.geocities.com/kaoskatpets Ok I just got back from helping at the local rescue and my animals are demanding my attention now so I’ll be back later.

Cute! Love the name Eurydice…..funny because I was actually had the name Orpheus/Orfeo in mind for any future bunnies I might get.

Thanks! Eury is the shyest of the 3 but she’s still very sweet.

It’s work but it’s not to bad. I’m home most of the day everyday so I have the time. Though I don’t have much free time. I love them though and they are worth it.

I got lots of info on bunnies when I was new to them the only thing I did was google bunny info or rabbit fast facts. This site is great for simple but useful bunny info you just have to go to bunny info at the top. good luck.
