I just bought a Cat Grass kit that I’ve seen in hardware store from time to time.  I wasn’t sure exactly what Cat grass is but after looking it up have found it is Cocksfoot or Orchard grass.   Botanic name: Dactylis Glomerata.  I cannot find Cocksfoot on safe list for rabbits.  If it’s an orchard grass, this should be safe for Jersey shouldn’t it?   I’ve also read Cat grass varieties can be rye/barley/oat grass.  All safe?

Has anyone else fed their buns Cat Grass? Seems easy to grow and has some health benefits so thought I’d give it a try.

Cat grasses should be fine for bunnies. I thought they were usually wheat berries, and the sprouts were wheat grass?

I guess it varies depending on the manufacturers. I don’t know what type this one is as packet doesn’t specify but I may get more of an idea once I look at the seeds. Thanks Osprey!

Everytime i’ve seen it I’ve wanted to buy it, but it never says what kind of grass it is…So I just haven’t tried but I really want to do it! Let us know the brand if you find its OK to feed!!

Rainbowseason, we ask that members please not pull up and reply to old posts. This post is from 2008. It just saves confusion. Thanks
