When i was looking for someone to look after Pepper while i went on a school trip i emailed all the rescues within 20 miles of me. most of them came back with “we dont take rabbits” or “we dont do boarding” well one transferred my email to her friend who has a rescue with rabbits and dogs and cats. My dad had already said he would take pepper, so thats where peppers staying, but this lady emailed me and said she would take care of him if i wanted. Well i emailed her and told her thank you but i already found someone, and then i offered my help to her rescue if she ever needed it.

Well she emailed me back and I am going to help her with her pet smart adoptions! She brings animals to our petsmart here in muncie and the cats and bunnies stay in the store in cages, and the dogs come for a day on the adoption days. So i will be going in every Monday and Tuesday to clean and feed rabbits and kittys, and play with them! im so excited!

I just had to tell everyone how excited i am!

aww! last saturday they had bunny adoptions at my petsmart– i just had to talk to the ladies and hold them!! there were some really adorable ones, but with a one bedroom apt, i am up to my eyeballs with my two bunnies.

anyho, it seems like a great program, atleast i’m assuming the one near you is similar to mine. its great of you to lend a hand!

So wonderful of you. It can be challenging dealing with people sometimes at adoption events, but the rewards are so worth it. You meet amazing people too, and it’s great to see happy endings!!

Let us know how it went for you.

I went to the adoption event for about an hour, they didnt need any help but i stuck around to play with the dogs and the bunny and the cats It was really fun and they were really nice people. The bunny was adorable!!! his name is Butters and hes a tan long hair angora, and he is big! im not sure how big angoras are supposed to get, so hes probably a mix, but hes 5 pounds and furry as heck and only a year old!!! and he is such a baby! hes sooo calm you can pick him up and hold him and cuddle him and hes not scared at ALL! all the dogs barking and everything didnt phase him one bit! They also have a bunny named francesca that i will meet soon and there was another bunny at the pet smart, but she/he wasnt with our rescue so i didnt have a chance to pet her/him. I had alot of fun though! im not sure how many dogs were adopted out, im sure i will find out soon though!

The rescue owners told me they had just recieved a pet duck from someone who was going to release it into a park, and they had it since it was a baby. so the rescue owners took it in. They went to walmart and got a baby pool for it

Congratulations on your first adoption event! I do several a month, both as photographer/videographer and as a counselor. Dealing with the public can be draining, and it is very hard to say no to an adopter, but as BinkyBunny said, it is very rewarding too to see animals go home with their new families.
