Bailey had test many years ago for e.cuniculi  and she had tested positive then, and she went through treatment to get her counts down but there is no cure. She had shown no real tragic symptoms yet, but I was told as she grew older, symptoms may appear.  I know though she is a minimum of 6 years old.

She always walked funny because she has a crooked spine, but lately I’ve been noticing a rapid decline in her walk.  She is becoming less able to control her hind legs.  There are some things we are doing like T-touch and that actually seems to help. (which amazes me because even though I am very open to learning new techniques, deep down I still am a skeptic of many things). she’s seeing the vet in a couple of days to get a treatment that is may help slow the decline.

Right now she’s still spunky and full of life, she’s not too bothered by it yet and has figured out how to clean her face (one front paw at a time since she can’t lean on her back legs.)

But right now I am just sad  as I hate to see it, and am hoping some of the things we are trying will help.

Keep her in your thoughts and send happy, healthy, healing vibes her way.

        Here’s her a year ago doing a Binky – something I miss.

BB, I was thinking about your Bailey today. Have you tried a rabbit chiropractor or accupuncture? Do you know if the crooked spine was a result of her e.cuniculi (so more like a nervous system thing) or was it structural/injury? If its not because of the e.cuniculi chiropractic may help to prevent the spine from becoming fused, which limits movement.

Does your vet have him on Panacur (fenbendazole)?  That seems to be the "Gold Syandard" according to people on my other rabbit groups.  Some vets are using it in combination with steriods to take down the parasite-caused inflammation, but they have to be careful with that because steroids can impact the immune system as well.

Aww. My friend’s bun lived with a similar condition, too. It finally got to the point that they didn’t want to see her suffer anymore; she could barely even move her back legs, mostly just drag them behind her. Her husbunn would groom her and try to help her out, and she was a real trooper. They just had to put her down less than a month ago

My thoughts are for your cute little Bailey bun!

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes. Bailey is almost back to normal. She still can’t wash her face with both hands at the same time, but part of me thinks she just got into that habit as she is running, jumping like normal. Well as normal as she can as she also has a crooked spine.

Wendy- She was on newest drug that’s supposed to be "new cure" – Ponazuril.  It brought her back to almost normal. We have to wait until December to see what her titers look like. She was also another med to keep the inflammation down, and she had no ill effects with that.

Poopy – Her spine has a strong V like curvature where her neck meets her back that they said in the beginning was due to genetics or an old injury. She recently had an x-ray that showed it hadn’t gotten worse at all as she aged. The vet has recommended acupuncture, but she wanted to wait until we could get the e.cuniculi under control. Now that it’s lookin’ good, I will talk to her about making an appointment for acupuncture, and ask her if she recommends chiropractic services.
