So Felony’s pellets have become much lighter in color than they were. Is this normal? I looked at them (gross I know) because I’m an over protective bunny momma and I noticed that it seems like they are almost entirely little balls of hay. Is this okay? I haven’t changed his diet recently, so I don’t understand the poo change…..

this happened to fujoe last year. It’s starting to get hot, right? Felony is probably dehydrated. Try to get him to drink more water- you can add a little bit of apple juice to the water to intice him. Also, when you give him greens make sure they are nice and wet from being washed. Is he “panting” at all? laying around more than normal?

I could be wrong, but that’s what happened to my bunny last year, and it was getting warmer. and that was the only time I noticed light colored poops.

Light colored poops can also come from the hay that the rabbit is eating.  Ours can come out as a yellowish brown if they have been eating lots of oat hay, for example.  Did you change your hay source recently?  Does the hay seem more yellow or brown than usual?

I didn’t even think of that, but it makes total sense. I’ve forgotten to turn the A/C on before I leave in the morning, and when I’ve gotten home from class it’s been really warm in the house…Thanks!!!

Ya, I ran up my energy bill last summer because I kept on air conditioner on at a certain temp -78 I think- all of the time. Fujoe likes to eat ice cubes, maybe try offering felony one. let us know when the poops are back to normal!

I know Felony looooves pineapple. And he was chasing an ice cube on the kitchen tile floor today…I was entertained.

Thank god there are more of you!  I always check the Bum’s poops now after he was off colour last summer…..my poor boy had worms (unwashed dandelions, hence why the boyfriend has been taken off "greens duty", that and the fact he was adamant i was seeing things, even when i stuck a poopsie with wriggling filth in under his nose, not helped by the vet not having been able to see wormies either..THAT’S BECAUSE BRIAN HASN’T JUST POOPED ON YOUR TABLE YOU FOOL!)  So I always check the poopsies, ensures he’s eating properly too.

actually keeping an eye on your bun’s litterbox is always a good idea. there are often a lot of clues about what’s going on healthwise in there.

Cooper ate an ice cube today. I tried what osprey suggested- i froze blueberries in ice and gave them to him. He worked on them forever then let them melt a little then finished them off. The boy is a vacuum-he will eat anything i put in front of him!

Cookie – yes buns can eat ice cubes. It’s a great treat especially during hot weather.

Hooty – it’s good to check out your rabbit’s poop. It really is the best way to tell what is going on with your rabbit. Poops can really show what’s going on healthwise. For example, if poops get smaller and smaller and even become misshapen or darker it could mean a slowing digestive tract. Poops that become large, egg like, and squishy can mean coccidia. Every bunny owner should become a poopolgist.

Oh the fabulous life we bunny humans lead….Checking poop, gleaning scent glands, getting thumped at for clipping nails, learning to live with the shredded paper all over the floor, learning to not notice to chew marks on our baseboards, and getting the stink eye when we don’t give them the entire bag of organic banana chips….Fabulous, fabulous life

regarding the ice cubes, does wetting the cubes prevent the cube from sticking to their tongues?
