Join me in flagging these posts! Every time I see these posts for hutches & cages for sale I think of some poor little bunny who will be locked up in it, and the bunny that probably died before it (the reason they are selling the cage).

I have been posting a thread called

"Cage, hutch? Alternative housing options for rabbits & bunnies"

It discusses pens & free roam. Hopefully someone whos looking to buy a cage will read it. Grr!! Makes me so mad!

Ooooh, Craig’s List flagging can be such fun.  I make a point of flagging down all of the back yard breeders and African scammers (yes, people from Africa try to scam Craig’s List with bogus puppy postings), and the "up for adoption, 6 week old designer puppy.  Adoption fee $600" type posts.

People try to sell bunnies there too.  Makes me sick.

ya, but you can have a cage and still have the rabbit be free-range.  Just lock him/her up at night. That’s what I did with Fujoe for like 4 of the months I had him.. We had the space and built him a fortress thing.. but there’s nothing wrong with having a cage and attaching an x-pen to it. By flagging those cage posts your deniying a bunny a home.

there’s fujoe (in his distructive stage) with a cage and an x-pen attached to it. By having the litter box be the cage, he gets more room in the x-pen.

and craigslist isn’t all bad.. that’s where I got Fujoe- though I wouldn’t do it again since he wasn’t fixed. and it cost me an arm and a leg- though Fujoe’s adoption fee (including his cage and such) was $20

i also have a cage for my bun and they seem to like using it as a litter box more than the tiny box but i take them out often. and they run around my house like they own it but sometimes they want in so they would sit under the table (Cage on table for some odd reason. dad put it there. but i am in the mist of building a cube condo for them to live in instead. hope they like it) and put up their front paws like they want to be picked up and put back. silly silly buns.

Flagging hutches and cages is not nice.  First, I got my baby Nibbles on craig’s list, and second, when I first got her, she was tiny and I would put her in a cage at night time.

As she got older, I built her a cube house.  Not everyone has the space or money right away to have a big bunny condo, so cages are appropriate in the beginning of your bun’s life with you.

Also, like other people posted, you can attach a pen area to the cage.

Unless a posting is spam, prohibited to miscategrized, you shouldn’t flag it.

Oreo is in a cage ight now and I am having a hard time of gettin him out as he has become aggressive. But I dont think it is bad to have then in a good size cage with exercise daily.

I personally am a definite hater of cages/hutches … regardless of what type of animal is in a cage be it a bird, rabbit, ferrett …. I HATE THEM ALL.  I hate seeing the caged animals at the zoos …. so I never go there!

Some people should be locked up in cages … like those gits who sell them and the animals in them.

                              Yep makes me mad alright!

                              Dawn xx
