aww, I’m sorry to hear she bite you
the key with the bunny burrito is to make sure those back feet are really secure.  This video from you-tube may help explain it better.

good luck, let us know how it goes…

oooch!  sorry you got bit!  yeah… i def think a bunny burrito wrap is a bit of a learned skill.  lol.

try this… have towel spread out on a counter so that the burrito wrapping will be easier at waist level & then go pick up bunny.  put bunny down so her head is towards you and at the front edge of the towel.  then swiftly and at the same time both press her head down gently with one hand and fold the back of the towel over her with your other hand so it is snug behind her bum and she has the edge up at her neck.   when you bring the towel over her from behind it helps to hold it snugly at her neck with your pinky finger & thumb while the palm of the same hand is over her head.  this way she can’t back out of the towel and you have her head secure.  then you can wrap one side of the towel over the bun sideways with your free hand, and hold it at her side.

another good reason to do this at waist level is that if, at any time your bunny struggles and is really kicking, you can calm her down by bending over her and covering her.  my vet does this to calm my bunnies down when the wriggle.  she just sort of hugs them & leans over them so they are surrounded by her arms & belly and the bunny’s paws are still on the counter until they stop wriggling.  gently talking to bun & saying out loud what you’re doing in a calm voice will help too i think.

keep trying … eventually you’ll get the hang of it.  good luck!

This is a great thread, I love the video and instructions, but I do have one question. With it being important for the towel to be tucked under and tight, how do you get to a foot to trim the nails without it coming all undone?

kralspace – i usually sneak the feet out one at a time after the bunny is being held firmly to me. If at all possible, it really helps to have one person holding the bun while a second person trims the nails.

I took Edson in for a nail trim yesterday and really watched how Marcy got Edson on his back – feet towards her.  She just really wedged him between her legs and only about 1/4 of his body was above her legs.  Really tight. I don’t know about the bunny burrito but this looked easier to do.  Of course ask me if I have ever done this?  NO!
