So I just saw this post on craigslist that sounded just like my two buns that I rehomed...I'm a little freaked out right now. What will I do if it is them? I set up a fake email asn asked about them. The thing is Im still talking to the girl, and she seems very sneeky now, and everything I gave them it says they come with. WHAT WILL I DO? WHAT CAN I DO?

phew.  that would be terrible.  the eternal optimist, i'm still holding out hope that its a diff person & buns.  good idea to inquire & find out more.  if it is the same person & buns, then you could 'do a follow up call... say you thought you'd check in & see how things were going, mention you saw the ad, & volunteer to take the buns back.  keep us updated!

I am getting them back tomorrow  gonna be fun rearranging to find a different spot for them (which i have no prob doing) but I just don't want to put them back with Rocky now that he is so happy having his room back too....sigh,tomorrow is going to be a big day....so much for my day off.....

I can't believe it! I am so sorry Amy, it makes me even more worried about finding any good homes for my little ones.

Some people just make you so mad, did you get her to fill out an adoption form?

Should gather as much information as possible about them and then post details so others are aware.

Should notify rescue centres so they are aware also.

Aw, Amy, dumps just stink, no two ways about it.  Thank goodness you are getting them back.  They are much better off with you than at some random place on Craig's List.  Rocky will cope, and you'll find a better place for them.  I hope the stress isn't too hard on you over the next few days.

She did fill out the application but she runs a rescue and she does this to so she know what people want to hear. yeh today is gonna be crazy, I was suppose to be getting a friend for my guinea pig today too, I don't want to cancel on the woman either. Now we are dealing with the possible move, it will be chaos for a few more weeks. I will be leaving around 3 to go get them today.

and she's charging a high adoption fee...?  i would show up there, police in tow if necessary and demand them back.  forget sending a friend.  do it yourself!  let her know you know and what you think of her.  she needs to know that she cannot do this to people and get away with it.

Huh?  She's runs a rescue?  For what?  That's incomprehensible!!!!  What was her reason for putting the buns on Craigslist in the first place if she runs a rescue?????????????? This is creepy.

mostly little critter and reptiles, well from what I understand...looking back more & more on conversations and having her do this, what she does, is seeks them out, through craigslist and the paper, free to good homes (but she didn't make it sounds liek that), but mine did not say free to good home, after talking to her I ended up not doing an adoption fee, the thing that bothered me was "I told you I would take them" cuz I was sooooooooooo unsure, and then I would say, I want to know that you want them not that "you'll take them" cuz at first it seemed like she was just trying to take them off my hands or somethng, but I thought we'd became friends, talking for 2 months and in the end that's what happen. That is y I am mad at myself

Amy oh my word. What a horrible and disgusting individual. It's not like they needed to be "rescued" either. I would report her to Craiglist that she is "recycling" pets up for good homes to make a profit and see what they say, I can't think they would be agreeable to that. That is so unbelievable.

I am also wondering what the exact wording is in the adoption contract so once you have them in back in your posession if you can press charges against her.

that is low down rotten person out to make a buck at whatever costs. if you have an adoption paper filled by her take it and police there to get them back with the evidence from the craigslist. her agreement is adopting them so you can get them back disgusting rotten person how dare she. for your sake and your buns may this work out and they go back home to you.

let us know how this turns out I so want you to get them back where they will be safe sorry it happened

Well I have them back, they seem ok, but what was wonderful on top of it all was finding out she was picking them up by the ears , my poor little babies! I'm not sure as of yet what my actions are going to be but there will be actions.

I wasn't there, I had a friend drop me off in a shopping center while he went and got them. Now things she has said to me...when an animal gets adopted out, they have an application and with referances, checkups, and must come back to me if they decide other wise (like what I told her), So i was the one who did the emailing, was the first one to respond to her, the add was taken off immediantly after I said I was getting them. My friend Mark, was in briefly...no real questions were asked about where they were going, what they would be used for (pet/or they could have ended up food), she cut herself pretty bad trying to take the cage apart (and beeotched to her hubby about how to take it apart *Him "Amy put the thing together how should i know"* which hormored it a little for me when I found out. All she really said to Mark was I feel bad I have to let them go but as long as they stay together , we tried to do the check thing, she got her 50 but after talking to many people I was told there wasn't anything the cops could really do about it. Any suggestions shy of just warning people?

thank goodness they're safe!  did you report her to craigslist?  can she be reported to local animal shelters / rescues or do they keep track of that kind of thing?  if you can report her anywhere at all, i'd do so.  i dont think there's anything else you can do really.  sadly some people are just screwed up.  you should need a permit to adopt pets.  that would filter out some of the scum.
