Two years ago I rescued a blue eyed white bunny from a breeder. I have no idea how old he was. This morning when I went outside to let him out he was dead in his cage.

Two nights before a possum was on top of his cage and he spilt his water everywhere. Other than that he was drinking and eating just fine. Last night he did not touch his hay or veggies. He was not bloated, injured or had insect bites. He looked fine. Is this what happens when they die of old age?

All the other rabbits are fine, and they get the exact same food.

Just wanted to make a little memorial for my bunny whom I gave a few more years of life.

Today is sad for me. ?

I just read it can take over a day for a rabbit to die from fright. It was almost exactly a day from when he was frightened by the possum on his cage.

I am so sad, it sounds like the struggle he had damaged his heart, he was shaking last night like he was scared, but the possum happened the night before.

Im am sorry for your loss drwil. I suppose another bad fright could have been the cause if he was on edge from the night before. Possible… But the possum could be totally unrelated also. It’s hard to say really. One of my rabbits just passed away in front of me one night. Out of the blue. I can only speculate what took her.

Given you do know a possum has been around, are you able to bring the other rabbits in temporarily until the possum has been relocated?
I recall you had the hutches set up in the barn. Is that still the case?
