so i’ve had a rabbit before but this new bunny i got has annoying behaviors x3 then my first rabbit

don’t get me wrong i love her to death but are their ways to deter or deal with these behaviors?

eats anything rubber she finds like the scroll wheel on my computer mouse and the buttons off the remote,

eats the carpet, ate our broom,

jumps in trash cans and knocks them over to dig around in them

is all in our face while we are eating and jumping in our laps

chews on everything, ate some candles chewed up a blanket, chews thou water bottles to drink the water

i have some chew sticks for her but she prefers random pencils and objects it feels like

        what can i do?

The simple answer is to just move the stuff you don’t want her to chew and block access to things you can’t move. Your rabbit isn’t doing this to be annoying, they are just natural behaviours and if stuff is left there for her to get to she will continue to chew it. You really can’t blame the rabbit.

Don’t leave rubber things out, put tiles or blankets on the carpets, put non suitable items (I. E. Candles!?) out of reach. Tbh it sounds a lot like she has access to things she shouldn’t and is making the most of it. It’s not her fault. It’s YOUR responsibility to ensure she only has access to bunny appropriate things, primarily for her safety.

Does she have plenty of hay to eat at all times? Besides the obvious nutrition and other benefits she gets from hay, it might curtail her desire to chew and eat other items. Plenty of hay may also keep her from getting blockages from eating all those items that are dangerous to her. If she only has one type of hay now, a variety of hay with different textures may be more enticing to her. Replace her plastic bottle with a heavy crockery bowl, to get rid of one chewing problem. Make sure all other dangerous items are not accessible to her.

I keep my own buns as liberally supplied with hay as I possibly can; indeed, the piles of hay I create when I refresh their supply often reach up nearly to the ceiling of their condo’s lower deck! (They do pretty well at reducing it, though.) I customarily refresh their hay supply twice daily, at their breakfast and supper times, but sometimes give them extra (usually at bedtime) if they seem to have been particularly hungry during their evening play period. They’ll often spend half an hour or more at a time in their litterbox foraging for tasty strands and noshing. Per @tobyluv, it seems clear that the ready availability of hay largely satisfies their instinct and desire to chew things; I have plenty of cardboard items (hidey boxes, tunnel, etc.) and several rabbit-suitable toys for them, and even a bundle of willow sticks, but in nearly 4 weeks, they haven’t usually shown much interest in chewing things other than hay. That, however, they chew a LOT of. Also, the hay I give them is a mixture of several different types rather than just one, which promotes different ways of chewing that help with tooth wear.

I give my rabbit timothy hay everyday I have started to try and keep things away from her we have a few baby gates up in the house but I should probably get more to be honest I know she is not trying to be annoying she a rabbit but eh I mean it still is annoying anyway
part of the problem I think is that she climbs up on everything chairs, tables, etc. so when i move item i thought were out of her reach she finds a way to get to them anyway I think I’m just going to have to put shelves in my house high up and put my mouse and remote, etc. up their all the time

If you’ve given her free run of the whole house, of course the whole house will need to be bunny proofed. It’s just like having a baby crawling around…

Otherwise just designate one room or area for her (nice and big so she gets lots of playing space) and work on making that area maximum bunny security.

I’ve found with one of my bunnies that the more something seems to be blocked off or moved, the more interested she is in trying to move things and get to them. I think they like the challenge and it makes them curious. This might be something that she sees as a game. You move something and she has to work harder to get it. Also the chair climbing thing might be interesting for her. Maybe you could try disguising things rather than blocking it off. I’ve seen some really clever things online, like someone putting wires inside a small bin or storage box. That way it just looks like an ordinary part of the room

Agree wholeheartedly with this. Buttercup is obsessed with the pantry which she wasn’t allowed in so of course she made it her mission to get in there at every opportunity

If you already know she’s a climber, put things in drawers rather than on tables and chairs…
